Safe bet JAPEX was referred to by Stewart Elliot of EWC when last spring, he said, he said ‘we can’t keep the Japanese out of our offices’. Ya think JAPEX isn’t creaming their robes over E/, T-2 and ppl 236???

Japex finds small oil, gas reserves in northern Japan

TOKYO Feb 7 (Reuters) – Japan Petroleum Exploration Co (Japex) said on Tuesday it has discovered small reserves of oil and gas at the Yufutsu oil and gas field on the northern Japan main island of Hokkaido.

The company confirmed reserves capable of supplying 60,000 cubic feet of natural gas and about 380 barrels of crude oil per day at a site identified as Akeno SK-1D in the south of the island, it said in a statement.

It will conduct a study on possible development of the reserves.

If IOC and PNG are smart, they go with the verticals of Japan and Korea, and leave the bloody Sisters out, except for one or two offtakes. Given the regionalized nature of the LNG market, this would make perfect sense. So much healthier for PNG development, too.
