Reminder - - - Rules of the Board - Stavros - 07-06-2013

It is clear to all that several Rules of the Board have been repeatedly violated with impunity by senior members of the SHU community.

I suggest that the rules either be enforced completely (not selectively) or repealed.

QUOTE:

My Friends:

We have a good thing going here at SHU, something that we need to continue to foster and grow.  As such, below are the rules of the forum, designed to provide stability and a safe enviroment for posters.  Failure to follow the below rules may be just reason to revoke your shareholdersunite user account with no questions asked.

  1. Respect - All members of this board (most every human being actually) deserve to be treated with respect at all times.  Personal attacks will absolutely not be tolerated.
  2. Identities - All identities on the board are considered private and are not to be shared outside of this forum without the consent of the individual.
  3. Whining - IOC is a long term stock investment that most definitely has risk.  On top of this, there are indications that the PPS is manipulated by the short interest.  As a result there will be delays, unexpected events and pps volatility.  Whining about these things serves no purpose and will not be tolerated.
  4. Disagreements - Inevitably there will be disagreements between posters.  Pointing out your side of the story is very acceptable and encouraged.  But it is possible that the disagreement will reach a stalemate - at which point the parties will have to agree to disagree and drop the matter.
  5. Stick to the Facts - This forum is not intended to be for the "pumpers" or the "bashers".  There will be both positive and negative events over the upcoming months and both are encouraged to be posted, discussed and dissected.
  6. Posting on Other Boards – Once you are a member of the SHU board, your posts on other boards are, in a small way, representing this forum. Please use respect and refrain from using the “Us vs Them Mentality”.

Thanx everyone for making this a valuable and fun community!

Health and Happiness,
hemi

Rule #7.  When quoting a source, provide a corroborating link.

RE: Reminder - - - Rules of the Board - admin - 07-06-2013

I don't think it's that bad, to be honest. The procedures are that if one sees something which one deems a violation of the terms, one can press the "report" button. It then comes to the attention to our board cop, who will pass judgement. Now, that's not perfect, and the board cop (that will be me, I'm afraid) can't make everybody happy all the time and might even misbehave himself at times, but this is the closest thing to a practical and discrete process we have.

RE: Reminder - - - Rules of the Board - Stavros - 07-06-2013

Please read Rules #1 and #4

Then read all the postings under the Thread: "Per Schwab's security lending desk shorts borrowing again"

There are other instances in the past few weeks.

IOC is hopefully in the process of finalizing the deals with XOM and others for additional trains in PNG LNG, the CSP, and one or more trains in Gulf. When the details are finally announced, together with the identity of the new CEO (I believe he will meet with universal approval) then maybe all of the senior members of the board will let out a collective big sigh of relief together with you STP and stop acting like children, as so eloquently pointed out by Kerekesc in the aforementioned Thread.

And as Optionray also suggested, all the senior members of the board will hopefully end their silly games and enjoy the spoils of victory over the Shorts, regardless of how they entered into their short positions.

Bink will be happy.

EOM

Kommonsesne-How does one provide a link to a verbal conversation?Example -You call say Wayne Andrews and have a nice 15 minute chat with him.How do you provide a link?? Understand Wayne talks at least 8 hours a a day to people about IOC. Those people then tell others about their Wayne Andrews update info call. In the stock market links to all are well just never gonna happen.

RE: Reminder - - - Rules of the Board - kommonsents - 07-06-2013

Not that my opinion matters much here, but I believe that a reference to a specific conversation with a specific person on a specific date is sufficient, especially when it's Wayne or similar person that I can verify with a phone call.

If it is reference to a conversation with a person unknown to me, as in many previous posts, I simply discount it to a rumor since I can't verify it. YMMV.

RE: Reminder - - - Rules of the Board - Stavros - 07-06-2013

Good point JFT.

I have a suggestion for you:

The next time you speak to Wayne Andrews, suggest to him that he conducts a "Webinar" every day that will enable all IOC shareholders to listen in and hear the poop first hand instead of via those who are able to speak to him personally.

Stavros
Wall Street forever has had levels of information or degrees of color. That will never change. Ya see the large Brokerage houses sell the information they have in the form of higher commissions charged to customer for that access. And all the companies have a need to raise money once in a while and need access to that Brokerage House customer base. They help each other out. Large investors also get access to information example think Wells Fargo knows more about whats going on with IOC than others???
Its not an IOC issue its Wall Street and how it operates. Many on this Board hear things including you and tell most of what you hear to the board to help those that do not hear. Certainly not all of what you hear turns out to be fact and that's the same for others. We are all trying to figure the IOC paradigm and we do not have access to those Confidentiality Agreements. Everyone knows we don't have access to those Agreements. So what we hear is what someone else says is gospel. Fact is it may not be gospel just someones educated guess.Key word guess.

RE: Reminder - - - Rules of the Board - Stavros - 07-07-2013

All very true JFT.
I'd still like to hear Wayne speak on a daily basis via short Webinars.
Even if all he has to say on certain days is to report the weather conditions at his location.

Stavros, I read that thread, in fact, I participated in it, so I have to assume you included me in the "children" part.

It might not mean much to you, but I was defending a rather important principle, that of providing links to stuff you ascribe to people, where possible (that obviously doesn't include verbal conversations).

If not, you can simply ascribe anything to anybody.

If you still don't get the importance of that, I could simply ascribe to you anything I deem fit. For instance, I could say you argued months ago that you were short, or that the new GLJ report would contain 25T, or that you insulted another member, or that you're really Phil's brother, or whatever I feel like ascribing to you. At least you can defend yourself here, but that doesn't hold for everybody.

Still not get my drift?

Now, perhaps one has to have been on the receiving end of this, like I have been numerous times, to make an issue out of it, but I somehow think it's self explanatory. I think it's important and defending it is anything but childish.

If you want a board where nobody blinks an eye with that sort of posting, where everybody can ascribe anything to anybody, you know where to go.
