Moving up a notch. Is there some hedgefund whose HAL 2000 has an algo that has picked up the state of optimism/confidence here?

I sure as hell hope at least some of you guys knocked on wood when posting.

I for one wake up in a sweat every morning wondering if this is the day I'll have to ask myself whatever possessed me to maintain a balanced portfolio?

Bobby back in the saddle, err bonkie, maybe I am even Janine......

21) you plan on buying a couple of yearlings ( thoroughbred race horses ) and imagine hearing the stretch call in the derby go something like this, " antelope up to challenge, it is Elk on the inside, Antelope on the outside, elk hanging tough, and antelope gets up at the wire to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby!"
22) you talk to your IOC cronies more than your fraternity buddies
23) you start telling people at the BP pump why they should never buy Shell gas
24) you drive by the Lexington Correctional Institute and want to taunt the inmates
25) you blame your stress fever blisters on bad shellfish
26) you try not to bring IOC up in normal conversation because it starts to sound like your braggin about your kids
27) you wonder what you might put on your next license plate!!
28) your interest in the bush tax cut issues on LT capital gains is more than a rooting interest
29) you want to go to Cairns for a party but would rather go to Fla for an IOC reunion
30) you pray for a poster's health who you have never met and look forward to someday meeting a dutch professor who you thought lived in amsterdam

31) your broker tells you your IOC stock is a dis-proportionate allocation. You reply is you plan to have a t-shirt with those words on it.
32) your friend does have the license plate.
33) you bring home your 4 foot bar tab to show the wife...and she smiles.
34) complete strangers on the highway signal you friend to the side of the road and exclaim... I love IOC.

RE: Is this wrong? - Palm - 07-12-2012

35) You find out well AFTER you have disproportionately invested the story of how the refinery went to PNG via Alaska via Houston and the original plan was to send it to S America or someplace else
36) You also find out one of the most experienced posters first heard about IOC while in Africa sitting around drinking beer after which he is now named!
37) However those realizations are calmed when you actually meet this guy and HE is the one that takes home the four-foot long bar tab AND has the gnads to show it to his wife AND she just smiles. Now I think I want to marry the guy!
38) You quickly learn that the word "soon" means something very different than when you use it to tell someone when you have to urinate after drinking on that four-foot bar tab
39) You find yourself posting Gravitar pictures of an antelope humping a zebra and it actually has a message other than the birds and the bees and part of that is why you'll never buy Shell gasoline again
40) "IOC has NG and NGLs at EA and T2 and maybe 20Ts to produce LNG for 25 years at Gulf LNG in PNG" actually is a correct sentence that we (and by now most of our families) understand and get excited about.

RE: Is this wrong? - jft310 - 07-12-2012

RE: Is this wrong? - admin - 07-12-2012

Is it wrong that I am following this election closer than I followed the Canadian election last year? Perhaps that is one of the top 10 signs that I have an IOC problem.

Top 10 signs you have an IOC problem:
1 - You know the names of the PNG MP's running for reelection, but don't know the name of your own constituent.
2 - When going on vacation you spend more $$$ to get internet access than you spend on hotel rooms, just so you can check the IOC stock price.
3 - You are going to name your first born son Phil.
4 - When meeting someone for the first time, you discover their name is Eric, and you need to be restrained.
5 - Your birthday present to your significant other is the Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology, Exploration, Drilling, and Production.
6 - You fly 3000+ miles and take 2 days off work so you can drink VO's and speak IOC for 18 consecutive hours at the Spinnaker Lounge.
7 - You refuse to refuel your car at Shell stations.
8 - You listen to IOC CC calls to help you fall asleep.
9 - You call Wayne more often than your parents.
10 - You have contacted IOC to set up wedding plans at Ant #1, so they can flare the well after it is pronounced "You are now man and wife".
11 - Your kids hero's aren't sports athletes, musicians or movie stars, but a man named PetEngineer

Hmmm, 8 out of 11, not bad......no way I have a problem.

Hemi -
Good news here.
You are not over the top yet on IOC buddy. Per Investopedia, the traits you and others have are simply symptoms of a classic profile of a '21st century neo-traditionalist MB age unilateral investor'.
This personality type typically had a deep admiration for Harry Houdini, beyond childhood.
My research indicates this investor type would prefer not, but is willing, to work an additional 30 yrs. and take ownership of his self guided investment scheme. Very rare in todays 'all reward/no risk' world. Some even guide family, friends and clients into this strategy.

The four classic symptoms of one losing the fine balance tween savvy/sanity necessitating professional help are:
1) Spousal accusations that you spend too much IOC time on the computer, while hiding in the bathroom to avoid spousal accusations of spending too much time on IOC on the computer.
2) Inviting MB buddies to your honeymoon in a foreign country.
3) Significant other needs immediate help if she's ok with sharing the honeymoon suite for a couple of days with a pasty white dude.
4) Developing an intolerance for ignorance and disdain of whining to the point of starting a members only MB.

Yup, we're good.........right??

Gotta go, driving my daughters Phyllis and Henrietta to 1st day of charm school and they hate while I drive and post.
