RE: Open Letter to RDS, CVX, TOT and XOM - bertl05 - 12-27-2012

I concurr that whatever is happening in IOC land is not going smoothly. No word on the deal with the govt that was to be wrapped up nov 30. PPS only had a handful of up days in over 3 months. I think the BOD meeting in PNG talk and the other un verified attempts at mollifying the shareholders are becoming weaker all the time. I also take issue witgh the idea that bidders might now wait till the new glj numbers in march. If thats true is a very negative outcome. I doubt it is true. I must begin to wonder at this point if that bid on the table in may has now evaporated. The continuous selling is a harbinger that we are in the mist of some type of stalemate...IMO. The time has come for a deal, not talk of BOD meetings and SM's with cash....of course SM's have cash...so what. Lets get a deal.

This is the first time in IOC's history where IOC,the PNG govt and a SM/NOC type all want a deal at the same time. The fact we have 6 active bidders means the price is rising . Some can wait and others can't. Which are you????? It will be worth the wait for those can wait.

Manyana

It is spelled mañana, and it means either "tomorrow", or "morning", depending on how it is used.

It actually means "NOT today" and anyone who's ever tried to get anything done in any Hispanic country will understand perfectly the subtle difference between "Tomorrow" and "not today".

Reading between the lines, when you ask a Spaniard to do something for you and they say Manana, what they actually mean is "What you asked me to do is not important (to me) and I'll get around to it when I can be bothered"

I'd be more than surprised if there were 6 bidders. In any case no matter what, its time to do a deal and move forward. Its becoming a wolf crying story. Nuf said.

"I concurr that whatever is happening in IOC land is not going smoothly."
-----Respectfully Bert, how do you know that information?

"No word on the deal with the govt that was to be wrapped up nov 30."
------O'Neill NEVER said deal wrapped up Nov 30th. Ministerial committee was to report back to him by Nov 30th.

"I think the BOD meeting in PNG talk and the other un verified attempts at mollifying the shareholders are becoming weaker all the time"
-----weaker by who? Are you blaming the company for message board speculation?

"I also take issue witgh the idea that bidders might now wait till the new glj numbers in march. If thats true is a very negative outcome. I doubt it is true."
------again, are you responding to message board speculation?

"I must begin to wonder at this point if that bid on the table in may has now evaporated. The continuous selling is a harbinger that we are in the mist of some type of stalemate...IMO."
------so, when IOC went up $10 in a week, was that a harbinger of tremendous progress in negotiations? If pps increases going forward, is that a sign negotiations are going well?

"The time has come for a deal, not talk of BOD meetings and SM's with cash....of course SM's have cash...so what. Lets get a deal."
------We all agree. But you are talking to two different groups of people. One is a group of message board speculators and the other is the company. I'm quite confident the company (and major institutional shareholders) want a deal done. The right deal.

I have little doubt there are/have been 6 bidders and most if not all have been identified in prior posts.

tree, I'm pretty sure there is nothing waiting for the next GLJ report; do you have any solid information that is the case?

The public release of the GLJ report may be further out in time, but I see no reason why a release to CA's could not be appreciably more timely, at least some type of report that provides more visibility to the CA's,   fwiw
