bertl, I think they have to play a gambit. I've been arguing that for quite some time and I'm more than ever convinced of it.
For those not familiar with chess:

Duma and IOC have agreed to all terms to the PA today. Off to the lawyers for language only. Rumor a fourth Super Major in on bids, maybe Exxon,Shell.Total and Chevron also PTT and JKM still in same rumor says. Well update next week. End of Feb solid still. I stiil like Exxon cause they need to build more trains
The shorts set up a Bear raid. Raised the price PAID to borrow shares last week to 5%, told everyone to get short Tuesday and then released the Seeking Alpha article. Could easily happen again.
They have paid help in the DPE and if he reported as did all the points were being nailed down the short need to make up stuff about IOC to drive it down. Its the business hold on until we get the deal.

Let me tell u, today Nasdaq short sales vs. total short sales was 25% on the Nas and 18% on the NYSE. This is serious short covering going on. Also tonite, the street.com comes out with a reiterated (Jim Cramer) sell recommendation. This guy is a phoney hooked to GS and the hedge fund gang. imo, an all out trash IOC before good news. Always examine the paradox applies here.

Lib, JFT is not the only person who gets that type of info. Many do. Many here talk to management (who answers what they can), and many have contacts in the investment world including the Bigs. We all dig and get what we can get and compare notes to see what makes sense. Those on Yazoo can accuse that people get insider info etc, but its no different than what they get from their contacts. Eric even has stated recently that he uses his many contacts at hedge funds and elsewhere. That's unfortunately how the investment world works today. Like most everything today it's the TMI; too much information. We all assume because we get the info it's fact; both sides. As Eric says "That's the beauty of it. In the end the market gets it right." It's "the end" that is the prize. It's not the end. We know it and they know it. In situations like this its become a game; a competition. The investment world has changed greatly since the time where you had to go to your broker's office to buy and sell. Control is a joke compared to those days.
So we dig, they dig and if your aren't a digger, you get buried. Dig in.
