RE: takeover by total? Or just more talk? - jft310 - 04-30-2015 My opinion / Total will not be a buyer if one shows for E/A alone . Super Majors as a public company don't take large percentage ownership positions . Look at Yemen your risk is reduced with a more modest ownership stake . To see Total in time buy into other drilling areas makes great sense , Woodside seems like a better fit to buy into or all of E/A. RE: takeover by total? Or just more talk? - trans - 04-30-2015

I see Tot as most likely offer to ioc, but if so, Tot will bring in another SM to replace IOC I am confident
RE: takeover by total? Or just more talk? - jft310 - 04-30-2015 Trans- you can easily be right . Lots of possibilities. I wouldn't rule out any possibility . RE: takeover by total? Or just more talk? - Putncalls - 04-30-2015 Forgot the special dividend. The tax rate would be 50+%. They would find a better way to pay. RE: takeover by total? Or just more talk? - Getitrt2 - 04-30-2015 To Stavros: The AS bonus is not $100 million per Tcf, but something like $65 million in the final agreement. I also totally disagree with his valuation of IOC's PRL 15 interest, which is not just E/A, and opinion on such a sale being desirable or likely, and agree more with CAC's comments on that. However, IOC's interest in the LNG project is extremely valuable, including its interest in AS and other gas in PRL 15 in addition to E/A, probably much more than any offer for that interest, and fits the Company's strategy, and is unlikely to be sold, imo. I think it would have to be part of a buyout of the entire Company at a much higher price than anyone is talking about here. RE: takeover by total? Or just more talk? - Putncalls - 04-30-2015 I think the PPLs would have value. Total would be thinking about trains 4 and 5 which would cost less than those Aussie projects Shell just paid for. Or just more talk? - Palm - 04-30-2015 This just appears to be more talk by a journalist/analyst like what happened last week in China. Total has an earnings announcement and the speculation (however it's based) eventually works into a question to the company. This is probably the 300th time in the last 6 years that IOC is going to be bought out. I agree with others that it makes little sense right now as these companies are still under lots of pressure to cut spending, etc. Shell moves on BG and suddenly every O&G company is in play. |
