As of mid-2025, the subsea rock installation vessel Windpiper is undergoing conversion and modification work at the ASL Shipyard in Batam, Indonesia, under the supervision of its owner, Royal Boskalis Westminster.
The key upgrades for the Windpiper include:
Large-scale conversion: An existing vessel is being converted into the world's largest subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel with a cargo capacity of 45,500 metric tons.
Advanced equipment: The upgrades will equip the vessel with specialized technology for its purpose. This includes:
A moonpool for the fall pipe installation.
An inclined fall pipe, which is critical for protecting the foundations of offshore wind turbines and other marine structures.
Enhanced mobility: The vessel will feature seven thrusters and have DP2 certification to ensure precise and dynamic positioning capabilities for complex offshore operations.
Improved power and capacity: The Windpiper will have a total installed power exceeding 31,000 kW and a large cargo capacity split across two holds. This design is optimized for projects that require long transit distances, such as those in Europe and North America.
The conversion project, which is scheduled for completion in early 2026, is a key part of Boskalis's strategy to meet growing demand for offshore wind projects.

The Windpiper is the highlighted ship that is from your post #487. I then asked Google what was being done to the Windpiper at the Batam shipyard in Indonesia and got that response back.

Mawarid owning at least 4.6% of TMC is still crazy to me. The founders of TMC founded and got rich off Nautilus Minerals. Mawarid supposedly "lost" around 400 million with Nautilus' "bankruptcy" and TMC got their only mining location from Nautilus' collapse. Why would Mawarid dive right back in with the same people who screwed them? Does that seem normal to anyone?

September 2025 was the second month ever that shares of NUSMF were not traded.
