Traewen has spoken; Writs to be returned next Wed Aug 1 - Palm - 07-27-2012 Per Liam Fox "electoral commissioner says deadline for return of writs has been extended to Wednesday 1st of August." Parliament should them be convening before mid-August. Right on schedule. Poor Belden is probably seething about not getting that 6-month extension so he could bathe PNG in vote-getting dollars
RE: Traewen has spoken; Writs to be returned next Wed Aug 1 - Moose - 07-27-2012 A hefty offer from RDS and or XOM would have us out of the PNG Election watching business pretty quickly. No more looking for Liam’s tweets, lol.
Moose RE: Traewen has spoken; Writs to be returned next Wed Aug 1 - Palm - 07-27-2012 Agree Moose. One of these days we will be sitting on Maui's beach sipping VO's and asking each other, "What's next?" RE: Traewen has spoken; Writs to be returned next Wed Aug 1 - maui4marko - 07-27-2012 PalmXstud, been practicing for this event for years, this posting string from my FB page describes it well: Finally the destination is in sight after a marathon paddle up the Purari River — with Scott S. and 3 others in Papua New Guinea. Should have known when departing "Deception Bay" Dec 24, 2009 that it would be a long trip http://goo.gl/maps/4BFs Purari River, Gulf Province, Papua New Guinea - Google Maps maps.google.com Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps Monday at 9:02pm · Like · Paul M. Wish we'd been confident enough of the destination early on to invite more friends along. Hey, I believe there are still a few beers in the bathtub, Marko! Monday at 10:39pm · Unlike · 2 Mark A. For 2-1/2 years we've been fighting off cannibals, crocs, crooked politicians, crooked companies, black swans, tsunamis, and countless other threats. We've endured stomach churning lows and euphoric highs. All along the journey, people have questioned our sanity -- why the hell are we in such a crazy place. Paul, I extended the invitation for this trip only to those who I knew to be strong willed and able to surmount the challenges. I wanted to share the hope and vision of our grand destination. There were times I regretted bringing anyone along, for in the moments of darkest despair all appeared to be lost. However we stuck it out, continuing to paddle -- at times furiously -- through the boiling, churning, muddy water. Just when we thought our destination was around the next bend, yet another set of uncharted rapids rose up in our way. Still, we continued to fight the fight and make progress. Slowly at first, then increasingly, our rate progress gained as the conditions began to improve. Finally now we're on the downhill run with the wind fully at our back. Our destination is now firmly in reach and soon we will be landing on shore, celebrating the end of this stage of our tremendous journey. Paul, I for one am looking forward reflecting on the last 2-1/2 years over some of those cold frosties, and planning the next phase of the trip. From what my scouts upriver tell me, the headwaters furher up the Purari River hold even more intrigue, splendor, and excitement. Who will continue on with me? Tuesday at 10:11am · Like · 2 Scott S. Marko, didn't your raft hit the concrete pier on the Re-reg dam, launching you and the others into the icy, fast-moving water? Oh wait... That was a different excursion. Anyway, you were able to retrieve the huggies (beer insulators) and make it to safety on that trip, so I'll stick it out on this one. Tuesday at 10:18am · Unlike · 3 Paul M. Hey Spot! Thanks for the memory! I had forgotten all about the near capsizing at the Re-reg. The raft went almost vertical...kinda Titanic-like! It's a wonder it didn't break up. That in itself was quite an adventure. Tuesday at 1:45pm · Like Mark A. Yes mahalo Sir Spot for bringing up the raft race incident, it proved to be good training for the Purari trip. Proved that we know how to properly construct a seaworthy vessel. Lesson learned for the current excursion: bolt the bbq to the craft lol. I also learned that sometimes you just gotta ride it out, hold your breath as long as possible, and hope for the best. Tuesday at 2:59pm · Like · 1 Paul M. Lesson learned....lesson applied! Here's to looking forward, cold frosties, and planning the next phase of the adventure. The sun has broken through and it's a beautiful day on the Purari! 3 hours ago · Like Mark A. Nice way to start the day, right Paul?!? Sun on our faces, wind at our back, and today another suitor peeks out from under the shell and publicly joins the chase. Feels good to be pursued. Who says you have to limit yourself to just one though lol. I love it when they fight over us ha ha ha. about an hour ago · Like · 1 Paul M. Right you are, Marko!! RE: Traewen has spoken; Writs to be returned next Wed Aug 1 - Palm - 07-27-2012 Ha! Maui, it's time to start tapping the kegs and rolling out the Maui Specials. The jungle cruise is filling up with passengers and the Antelope is rested and ready to resume humping the Zebra. Let's keep eyes and ears peeled for the time to formally launch. Look forward to sailing with you! RE: Traewen has spoken; Writs to be returned next Wed Aug 1 - efi426hemi - 07-27-2012 Hey MauiTieDownTheBBQMarko, I believe you are the catalyst for this run. The Ducks and I were drinking VO's at the Spinnaker the night before the AGM and I think that was all the good karma that IOC needed. INDEED, just two days later O'Neill announced his undying support for the project. Tonight I shall give thanx to the VO god!

RE: Traewen has spoken; Writs to be returned next Wed Aug 1 - maui4marko - 07-27-2012 WhiteHemiKnight, indeed being Powered by VO catalyzes me to do many things so I don't doubt that O'Neill is tapping the bottle as well. And with the Canadian braddahs taking over this island, I'm thinking the WestJet flights to Kahului will be carrying more than just the braddah's baggage in the hold http://blogs.hawaiinewsnow.com/howard/2012/07/hawaii-the-new-canadian-corner.html |
