InterOil short interest - Gator - 09-26-2012 Short interest in InterOil stock (listed on the NYSE) rose in the first half of September compared with the prior two-week period, according to the exchanges' semimonthly statistics. IOC short interest climbed to 9,215,720 up 288,804 for the prior period. During that two week period IOC stock rose from $79.54 to $86.80. InterOil currently has 27% of the available shares (float) short. RE: InterOil short interest - Putncalls - 09-26-2012 I wonder if shorting is the method used to depress the PPS? RE: InterOil short interest - jft310 - 09-26-2012 Some Big is loaning out shares and they have a plan to get them back RE: InterOil short interest - Markr - 09-26-2012 Query, where do the shares come from to short? My broker tells me he can not even get 100 shares to short. Is Chandler really loaning out all of his shares? Very frustrated with the manipulative manuevers that seem to accompany a large short position. RE: InterOil short interest - Tusker - 09-26-2012

RE: InterOil short interest - TxPm - 09-26-2012 I checked last week with two online brokers & my trading desk all of which said there were no shares to short...when I asked my trader he didn't even have to look when I inquiries him the stock in question was IOC. Given the intra-day volatility we saw the last two weeks the only thing I can reason is this: 1) the liquidity is quite limited in general and at most firms is "0". 2) given that someone is still shorting the stock and that someone shorted the stock the day we almost hit $100 that tells me that most likely there is probably only 1 maybe two MM who have shares to short. And it had to be one of the big firms. I'd be curious to know who RC clears through and if he is slowly lending out more shares just to keep the shorts coming back for more RE: InterOil short interest - Bincbanker - 09-26-2012 InterOil currently has 27% of the available shares (float) short. VW had a 16% float short , and it exploded to the biggest Co in the World , quadrupling in a nano second on a take over rumor by Porsche from 224 to 1000 euro's How can you every be considered an UBER Pumper , thinking that IOC will squeeze to 200 USD especially when the NAV with a modest 2 p.MCF is base on 224 USD on E/A alone ??? Its post like this , Thank you Gator, that makes me all warm inside RE: InterOil short interest - trans - 09-26-2012 I suspect whoever is shorting IOC has a marketmaker status, and is using a short term exemption from having to borrow, or find and locate shares for a number of days. And a portion of IOC's shorting is "naked". RE: InterOil short interest - jft310 - 09-26-2012 We think 6 million of the IOC short shares are market makers using the holes in the securities business to naked short IOC fo a period of days. We also think a big is no names is loaning shares on a short trm basis.Understand that they are shorting because of the lack of news. They are playing timing games. RE: InterOil short interest - Bincbanker - 09-26-2012 taking so much risk involves ; knowledge Financial institutions don't gamble , to explain this away with "Hedging" alone doesn't work for me anymore |
