IOC Value - Petro2458 - 11-08-2012

All - Should have done this before I did my back of the envelope.  Here are the assumptions/results of the cash flows:

Low Case Contingent Resource - 6.5 TCF and 105 MMBL Condensate (7.1 TCF Equivalent)

Phase 1 - 4 MTPA LNG Train
First Gas - Q4 2016
$14.35/MmBTU gas price and 95.00 BBL for Condensate
8% Loss LNG and 2.95% loss Condensate...per 9/29/2012 slide pack
Assumes 100% capital burdened by IOC and 58.6% of revenues
$5,076 Million Capital phased over 3 years from 2013 to 2016
$117.1 Million per year operating expense
Did not estimate abandonment liability
Discount Factor - 10%
Undiscounted Cumulative Cash Flow - $51.2 Billion
Net Present Value @ 10% - $9.7 Billion or 1.37/mcfe (using gross resource)
Stock price - $202 using 48 million shares outstanding

Mid Case Contingent Resource - 8.6 TCF and 129 MMBL Condensate (9.4 TCF Equivalent)

Phase 1 - 4 MTPA LNG Train;  Phase 2 - add a second 4 MTPA train after 2 years of production into Train 1
First Gas - Q4 2016 (train 1);  2019 - train 2
$14.35/MmBTU gas price and 95.00 BBL for Condensate
8% Loss LNG and 2.95% loss Condensate
Assumes 100% capital burdened by IOC and 58.6% of revenues
$5,076 Million Capital for Phase 1, +$3,828 Million Capital for Phase 2 - Total $8.9B
$155.8 Million per year operating expense
Did not estimate abandonment liability
Discount Factor - 10%
Cumulative Cash Flow - $65.6 Billion
Net Present Value @ 10% - $15.9 Billion or 1.70/mcfe (using C2 gross resource)
Stock price - $332 using 48 million shares outstanding
Applying 90% confidence to the low case - $180
and 50% confidence to mid case (incrementally) - +$65
Estimated Value of $245/share.
Much better than I expected...I couldn't match exactly what IOC showed, but it was fairly close.
Best,
Petro2458

Per Morgan and Ray Jay and Henry the right number may be 12.1 T's at E/A. Might call that the high estimate for your work.Or show 3 esimates.

Henry A actually has more data recently and has raised the 12.1 T's  estimate at E/A..I dare not publish his estimate . No that data is not on the IOC slides.

More on the CC I bet.

Well, very interesting, thanks for that Petro24. I expect there are a few accountants that might have a few remarks

RE: IOC Value - ebster123 - 11-08-2012

New Pet, thank you for your annalysis.  What do you figure is the valued PPs if the number is as JFT states (at least 12.1)?  JFT, if we already have gotten NEC approval last week:

1) is this a significant enough event that the company must report it

2) if there are moles (and I am certain there are) why is there not a real significant PPS and volume shift upward?

Thanks

RE: IOC Value - Palm - 11-08-2012

Looking better; back of envelope for these kinds of projects usually no workie well. Question; can you explain your "100% capital burdened by IOC"? Are you assuming they provide 100% of capital expenditures yet get only 58.6% of revenues?

Thanks for your work

RE: IOC Value - jft310 - 11-08-2012

Petro what if EWC is still involved?? That greatly decreases the IOC needed capital and the cash expense from the project gets spread out over maybe 20 years. Why is O'Neil visiting the location where EWC has a new LNG plant under construction in Indonesia.?? Per the EWC slides EWC has 2 modules available for installation. IOC has costs on their website and they are related to what??Costs to build what with whom??Will there be EWC modules and a traditional LNG plant to open later?????Lots of ???'s . The project will be robust is a fair estimate .

RE: IOC Value - sltibbs - 11-08-2012

Petro2458,

First, I thank you for sharing your work and, if you are open to sharing, I would also like you to post the spreadsheet you used for your calculations. Or, if you are concerned about maintaining your anonymity, private message it to me and I will post it for you.

A couple of quick thoughts:

Your estimates are in the same range as my prior, older estimates, which need to modified since the production rates and timing has changed.
The biggest argument against your values will likely be the 10% discount rate, as opposed to some higher rate due to the risk of the project. Of course, a super major operator/partner will greatly lower the risk.

Another negative, which has already been commented on, is that you have IOC funding 100% of the costs. The good news about your assumptions, is that even if there is a 70.6% [(100%-58.6%)/58.6%] development cost overrun it is still highly profitable. Something else to consider is that it is likely a large portion of the development costs will be funded via debt. Another future unknown is the selldown, which of course, affect the calculations.

Based on your estimates on a per mcfe basis, makes me question prior discussions about likely selldown prices.

The good news is that there IOC is significantly undervalued.

Thanks again for sharing.

Best,
Sam

RE: IOC Value - TxPm - 11-08-2012

Eb, the volume today isn't bad. We probably won't hit 1Mil shares but we are way above avg. also considering the overall market is down 2.5% and many energy companies are off 3+% I think IOC trading slightly positive is a very good sign

RE: IOC Value - sltibbs - 11-08-2012

HI,

I would like to add a comment. I notice there are several questions about what if this or that more positive event happens. I say there is no need to do such calculations. Does it matter if the estimate is 200 or 300 or 400 per share? Is 200+ not enough to justify a position given the current price in the mid-60s? I say just be appreciative and focus on understanding what has already been shared.

Thanks again Petro2458.

Best,
Sam

RE: IOC Value - TxPm - 11-08-2012

I 100% agree with Sam that the 10% discount rate for this project is to low. In my opinion it should be in the 15-20% range. With that being said though your estimates assign no value to any of our other fields which as I've mentioned before I think will have a lot higher value assigned to them 3-9 months from now then they do today. In addition I think we can easily conclude ioc pps could be in the mid 100's in the near future
