Offshmore Smoffshore - Tree - 02-12-2013

I guess finding onshore gas in PNG is just too easy -  buy it from ennerOle.  OSH must like challenges.

Helloooo blowouts.

Exploration by Oil Search is hit by delay

January 31, 2013

Oil Search’s upcoming offshore exploration drilling in Papua New Guinea for liquefied natural gas-size discoveries has been delayed.

The semi-submersible rig Stena Clyde is due to start drilling the first of a four-well campaign in the first quarter, or early in the second quarter, of 2013. The original target was early this year. Oil Search said the first well will be on the Flinders prospect in Block PPL 244, which has prospective resources of 1.5 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Oil Search is PNG’s largest producer and operator of all its producing fields. It is leading the exploration on behalf of various joint venture partners.

Its ambition is to find a material gas resource to support a standalone LNG project, or at least provide feedstock for an existing LNG development.

It will be the first offshore drilling in PNG for decades.

Delays?!!! I thought only IOC has delays. Now it's like the PNG plague started by IOC is affecting other operators too. Hoho. I think IOC needs to get into the Chevron waters off of Australia. I saw over the weekend that Chevron has actually drilled and found "Liquified Natural Gas". Pretty amazing that there are reservoirs with it already liquified. Imagine how cheap that is to develop. No CSPs, no LNG plant. Just comes right out of the ground. Jed Clampett would be proud!

"Chevron makes 20th gas discovery off WA

ENERGY giant Chevron has made its twentieth gas discovery off the West Australian coast in the past two and a half years.

Chevron Australia said it had experienced drilling success for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Exmouth Plateau area in the Carnarvon Basin.

The well, which is about 280 kilometres north of Exmouth, was drilled in 1,168 metres of water to a total depth of 3,065 metres.

The discovery comes less than two months after Chevron made two offshore discoveries in the same area.
"The Asia Pacific region is key to Chevron's growth strategy and our strong Australia natural gas portfolio continues to be bolstered by our strategic approach to finding and developing resources that will help meet the growing energy needs in the region," vice president of Chevron George Kirkland said in a statement.

Chevron said the discovery supported its long-term plans to expand its Australian LNG position.

The company operates WA-365-P well with a 50 per cent interest while Shell also holds 50 per cent."

Shell got lucky too; they have a 50% interest in this LNG well. So this is the third LNG well that Chevron has in that same area. I bet it gets pretty busy around there soon. Just pull up the LNG tanker, load it up and head off to Asia. Pretty amazing

HAHAHAHA...let's get an offshore rig and drill there everyone! Heck Shell doesn't need to spend the billions on Prelude, suckers.
