What can happen with 35% short float. - Gator - 04-10-2013
First Solar Undergoes Mother of all Short Squeezes 13:56 EDT - More than 35% of First Solar's (FSLR) stock float was held short as of mid-March, so it's probably no surprise that shares have exploded on the company's projection that 2013 results should smash analysts' latest estimates. FSLR was already up 7% to lead the S&P 500 ahead of the disclosure amid giving longer-term targets for production costs that investors cheered. After a dour 2011 for the stock and further declines last year, FSLR surges 48% to $40.08 in hitting a 14-month high.
RE: What can happen with 35% short float. - admin - 04-10-2013 and I think it was you who picked these shares up from the bottom, wasn't it? Congrats! Turns out we have more than one doublebagger here.. RE: What can happen with 35% short float. - Gator - 04-10-2013 Even a drunk squirrel makes it accross the road once in a while. RE: What can happen with 35% short float. - TxPm - 04-10-2013 Currently up 49% & climbing RE: What can happen with 35% short float. - ArtM72 - 04-10-2013 Impressive. Very impressive. Anyone care to compare FSLR profit potential to IOC? It would seem to me FSLR was driven down by Chinese competition, some of which has subsequently gone bankrupt as their sales margins were simply too low to sustain the companies. But is FSLR selling into a market where the current product sale price to current asset value ratio is 5 or 10:1? $0.60/mcf can generate $14-6=$8/mcf gross revenue if the gas were to sell, raw, for $2/mcf. This current asset value continues to ignore condensates, dinosaurs, mammals and fish. I would expect a short squeeze involving something with value more funjuible than photovoltaic manufacturing, and with a higher potential gross margin to current asset value, would be capable of inspiring a greater magnitude squeeze than seen with FSLR. But as I said, the FSLR move was impressive, very impressive (and good for us all). JMHUO. RE: What can happen with 35% short float. - Gator - 04-10-2013 For everyone who had doubts about a $ Billion dollar jump in a day: it just happened intraday with FSLR. 87 million shares outstanding with 16 million shares short, up over $12 per share is over a billion dollars. IOC has fewer shares outstanding, a much higher percentage of the float short, and many more days to cover. Both have about the same market cap (for now). All we need is a little good news. RE: What can happen with 35% short float. - Putncalls - 04-10-2013 That is interesting. IOC has a practical energy source and FSLR has a stupid energy source. |
