Earnings are out; Call tomorrow will be key - Palm - 05-14-2013
Not much here yet; tomorrow's call will be interesting hopefully:
"During the quarter, discussions were held with Oil Search Limited (OSH: AX), which holds exploration acreage adjacent to PPL 237. These discussions relate to access within PPL 237 for a joint seismic program over both licenses with a tie to the Triceratops structure. It was agreed that we will conduct the joint seismic program which will be fully funded by Oil Search. The resulting data will be shared and separately analysed."

Venture with OSH in Tri and seismics paid for by them could evolve into a Totally cool adventure.

Hoho. I remember that crook BostonKenmore (aka "Feeltheheat" on Seeking Alpha) arguing that nobody was interested in the lowlands where IOC's licenses are. If you didn't believe him (I can't imagine why) you just had to make a phone call to OilSearch...

I would guess this isn't going away soon. With their Flinders dud (which was there largest hoped find offshore) coming up empty (if you disregard their Philspeak that there was no commercial quantities in their target area but they are going to total depth anyway), they are under pressure to find something for Total. But I think Total knows the answer to that. If the Shell rumors pan out for PRL 15, Tri could be Totaled. Hohoho

Palm-- Awesome ,man! Total...ly loved your word usage . You must have gotten an A+ in your "wording " class at the university! I mentioned earlier to TxPm on his post,that TOT might come in thru the "side door" rather than the back door like another guy had tried. Looks like the Greater Triceratops could provide them with that opportunity. Hang tough,all.

Total is in PNG to win. Their executive VP was recently interviewed on EMTV under the Resource PNG heading. It's interesting because he is asked why it is that Total is just now coming to PNG. He says, "Well you know PNG is a long ways away from our headquarters in Paris, so until now we just haven't had it on our radar." But then later when asked what the plans are and what Total brings to the table, he says, "Well we have big plans in working with Oil Search and we will be working to have our own LNG plant in PNG. Don't forget we have been very active in Austalia, Indonesia, Singapore and other places in this area so we are very familiar with how things work here."
Wait a minute I thought PNG was so far from Paris but Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and other places are not? Hoho. I think it was his polite way of saying "Ooooooops, we messed up but we are here now."
It's clear in this interview that Total understands the great opportunity in PNG as he mentions the promising gas plays, and the strategic location in relations to booming Asian markets. There's no doubt in my mind that Total has its eye on IOC's finds. And now it appears that OSH knows it must form an alliance with IOC to find the necessary gas to underpin either Exxon expansion or a project with Total. Or maybe both. OSH has the rigs and the PNG pull to make things happen. And Total is in PNG to win. They made that clear to O'Neill a couple of weeks ago.
