Things are starting to move here:

22nd Century Group Signs Letter of Intent With European Factory For Production of Nicotine-Free Tobacco Cigarettes in Europe

CLARENCE, N.Y.--()--22nd Century Group, Inc. (NYSE MKT:XXII) today announced that its subsidiary, Goodrich Tobacco Company LLC, signed a letter of intent with Orion, a cigarette manufacturer based in Poland, to contract manufacture the Company’s proprietary tobacco products to be distributed in the European Union.

Goodrich Tobacco will export its proprietary tobacco from the United States to Orion. Orion will manufacture the finished cigarettes under the brands owned by Goodrich Tobacco. Initially, Orion will manufacture one of Goodrich’s signature products: GOLD MAGIC®the world’s lowest nicotine tobacco cigarette.

Henry Sicignano III, President of Goodrich and 22nd Century, stated, “We are thrilled to be working with such a dynamic, entrepreneurial tobacco manufacturer. The virtually nicotine-free GOLD MAGIC brand contains approximately 97% less nicotine than typical ‘light’ cigarettes, yet GOLD MAGIC cigarettes look, smoke, and taste like conventional cigarettes.” Independent laboratory results confirmed that the average nicotine yield per GOLD MAGIC cigarette is 0.037 milligram per cigarette, a small fraction of the nicotine yield of conventional cigarette brands.

Previously, Goodrich entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Wilshire Marketing BV for the GOLD MAGIC brand in Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg, known as “Benelux.” Wilshire recently concluded packaging design and intends to begin distribution of GOLD MAGIC cigarettes this summer in Benelux.

Smoking kills 1 million Chinese every year. That's more than the entire population of Cyprus (~865,000). The World Health Organization estimates that by 2050, smoking will kill 3 million Chinese each year.

Mind-Blowing Facts About China - Business Insider

China has 300 million smokers, half of whom started before age 20. Each year, smoking kills 1 million Chinese, a number that’s expected to triple by 2050 at the current rate of smoking, according to the World Health Organization. Among the more alarming findings of the new survey is that 72.9 percent of middle-school students were exposed to tobacco smoke, and more than half of that exposure took place at school. Although China forbids selling cigarettes to adolescents, more than 80 percent of current smokers say they were never turned down by sellers because of their age, according to the survey.

Nice post, Admin. Is there an XXII partner who intends to market our products to China?

RE: XXII from streamingeagle88 - Movieguy - 06-03-2014

Admin, I have a big suggestion. How about giving XXII its own forum? I think there is much to be discussed, and it would bring it to the attention of more members. (And this one thread has gotten awfully long.)

Not that many people here seem to be interested in what's really a blockbuster opportunity IMHO, but since there is little to be lost from trying, why not have a go.

Re-China, well, they went to visit but it's a difficult market to crack for foreigners as it's basically a state monopoly. At least they have more success over in Europe, with the deal in Poland, so at least they got the ball running while we still wait for MSA approval to start in the US..

Strange that it's selling off on the Russell news.
Any thoughts?

Well, it had a pretty good run-up (as we predicted) and it looks like the news was earlier:

RE: XXII from streamingeagle88 - admin - 08-28-2014

Well, there is a SA article out arguing this is worth very little and the claims of the article are impossible to assess within the confines of a single trading day. Two possibilities;

  • A substantial part of it is true
  • It's a very nasty short attack

It's probably wisest to sell at least part of your holdings, even if the article is BS (some parts aren't, but we're talking about the general meaning) it will go lower and it's probably difficult to recover from it, so why take the chance..

RE: XXII from streamingeagle88 - admin - 08-28-2014

At the minimum, the SA short article on XXII raises a number of questions, in no particular order (and no intention to be complete):

  1. Why not sell Red Sun and Magic as a non (MSA) participating member? (the article mention other small companies do this, without mentioning them by name).
  2. Earlier efforts to sell Red Sun and Magic haven't exactly been successful. At the minimum, it needs big expenditures in marketing.
  3. Why has XXII acquired NASCO to get MSA membership while they had their own application and the procedures are essentially the same (according to the article)?
  4. Earlier (2011) clinical trial failure of X22, why would they be successful this time around?
  5. Suspension of new clinical trials, what is the prospect of continuation?
  6. BAT's development plan doesn't include low nicotine cigarettes?
  7. What is the status of the license of the patents from North Carolina State University? Article puts these in doubt.
  8. The failure of Vector's Quest cigarettes based on the same patents isn't exactly reassuring. Is there a significant difference between Magic and Quest?

We're not saying there are no satisfactory answers to these (and others), what ww do say is that anyone confident on holding or buying should at least be able to answer these with some degree of confidence.
