This is meant to show an HONEST assessment of people's approach to our mutual interest, IOC.

FYI, the purpose of his s not to call anyone out. In fact, we all have the right in our free societies to post or not post. I ask these questions because I assume I am not alone in my belief that SHU was a site to share information in a open and non judge mental way. If I see others do not post what they know it will not stop me for doing so. However, it will make me more aware that what I see may not be the full story and seek further information. TIA

Ebster, I appreciate your posting this poll, and I admired your response to Hemi that likely motivated this. (I think I understood the point of Hemi's post, but the way he wrote it came off as more self-serving than I think he intended.)
I am not sure that your poll is the best way to get at the truth of this issue, as it is not so easily quantifiable. First off, none of your responses is quite accurate for me, and this may be the case for many others. The closest potential response, which is not in the poll, would be "I sometimes post positive information I get about IOC and I sometimes post negative information I get about IOC." You see, it depends on many factors such as how inflammatory the info is, how confidential it is, how certain I am of its accuracy, etc. I try to always be a useful participant here at SHU, but telling all I know or think I know may not actually be useful, so I have to judge that.

IMHO this poll is absolutely unnecessary as the one answer that people who probably do 99% of the DD on the board (and there are quite a few) would answer is not in the poll. "I post some positive and negative information." But we already know that and I think that is the point of your poll. Using words like "All" "No" "None" which rarely apply to situations, especially investments, render an answer or statement unrealistic usually.
Also "positive" and "negative" are very relative terms. What's "positive" to you might not be to me. The same goes with "negative". People invest with different objectives (LT/ST etc) which will affect what you think is "positive" or "negative".

Hi Mg, you can actually post more than one which i believe allows you to get your answer. As it stands now, I am not sure what from who I should believe since I am uncertain about what to believe from one of the fathers of this site.

So in the end the answer "I post some information I get or research" is likely the answer most can honestly answer. I agree with MG on that point.

Palm, you should be able to choose both "some" answers to get your selection. Clearly some do more DD than others, that has been recognized by many (in appreciation) and stated my some (for clarification). I just want to know where to trust information. I get and to what degree.

And that is going to come from this type of poll?!! As I said, IMHO if most people here who do a lot of research and DD answer honestly, the answer will be "some". I've assumed that from day one, even on Yazoo. I fail to see how that affects my "trust" factor. This is a MB about investments where mostly people don't know each other and there are varying degrees of investment goals. For many reasons people will likely only post "some" of what they know and over time any of us will learn to "trust" (or really put weight in) info from certain posters. That's how it works.

Palm, thanks for your candid response and I agree. I pretty much look at posts from you and tree and STP with a straight shooting. Several others as well. I will do as you recommend and grow to trust (or not trust) what other posters post. Thanks, T
