Questions - UncleT - 08-23-2013 I have kept an eye on this stock for a while thanks to STP. Unfortunately, I did not buy at $0.80. As the saying goes, "You never own the right amount of shares. You either own too little or not enough." I am familiar with the company and Clipstream mainly from reading your posts and the links provided to articles and conference call scripts. I am not that tech saavy to know exactly how it works though. Yes, I know one format for all devices. Seems great. Here are some of my questions though. As a customer. Why would i use this instead of YouTube? I can embedd the YouTube video into my website, and all devices have a YouTube app at the very least. Are they simply using HTML5? Who is the target market? Essentially is this another YouTube, or do they want a company like Netflix to use this for all their streaming video? RE: Questions - admin - 08-23-2013 Advantages for users: - No media player nor plugins needed, it works with a HTML5 compatible browser Advantages for companies: - No streaming servers needed, this works with a normal web server - No multiple format problems (and multiple-streamer servers needed) which: - reaches all of the addressable market - no transcoding cost, having to transcode media files into multiple formats - Local cache: since it's regular web content, your local ISP stores it on their local server (unlike media coming from a streaming server), which distributes it nicely and makes it accessible to others, saving on bandwidth and the need for the Akamai's of this world (content distribution providers). It is pretty compelling and I think people would benefit by profiting from the recent weakness in the shares. RE: Questions - ArtM72 - 08-23-2013 I see the advantage of Clipstream to companies, not consumers. A company can put out its own ad media (or its' consultant) and be confident that anyone who can click on a (supplied) URL can see it. It is a techie's nightmare as it is a job killer. No more having to know and perform all the transcodes to make your ad happen. For the bean counters at leviathons like U-tube it does the same. RE: Questions - admin - 08-23-2013 Well, yes, the benefits for consumers are small compared to companies. You don't have to worry about formats, compatibility plug-ins and media players, but that's basically it. |
