Preventing A Company Takeover - cybersssss - 08-24-2013 It has been mentioned that once an E/A deal will be complete there is a possibility of a takeover by another company, or at least a Bid from the likes of Shell. This is especially true considering where IOC is trading at these days. On a prior post it was mentioned that Shell owned 25% of Woodside Petroleum. Short of buying out IOC (or as a prelude to), perhaps a deal with XOM (or Shell), can or will entail a percentage stake/ownership of IOC. Let's just say they buy 25% of the common stock at a price of 180 dollars a share. This establishes a new floor to the pps and will make it much more difficult for any other company to come in and interfere with the SPA or Selldown of E/A. There are obviously many other mutual benefits. This is just a thought based on what other deals have entailed that I have seen. RE: Preventing A Company Takeover - trans - 08-24-2013 I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a "tender offer" by someone wanting in, when appropriate. RE: Preventing A Company Takeover - Tree - 08-24-2013 A simple way for Phil and Civelli to exit w/o crashing pps would be a marketing of their individual or combined stakes to the likes of any future partners and existing large shareholders. Chatter about new projects for these two in PNG. An exiting Phil would be expected. RE: Preventing A Company Takeover - Movieguy - 08-25-2013 A stake ownership makes sense but the huge (probably insurmountable) problem is price. Those with large stakes in IOC believe it s worth a heck of a lot due to its proven and "likely" reserves. The new buyers just want to pay for what is proven and not much more. Then the answer, of course, is to sell off units or increments, as they are quantified, for the best deal including a percentage ownership and share in the ongoing revenue. That's what I'm waiting for. A sell down to XOM will facilitate that program of exploration, discovery, proving up and putting out to the best bidder. Git her done! RE: Preventing A Company Takeover - Palm - 08-25-2013 Agree and that's the way the majors like to work also. You go find the resource and de-risk that part especially in a new territory and we will come in and derisk the processing for you. |
