By Arie Shapira

     Feb. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Analysts tell Bloomberg First Word

they are skeptical on Daily Mail report of Teck Resources $85-

shr cash offer for InterOil (implies 54% premium to yday close).

  * IOC up 3.4% pre-mkt, had traded up as much as 6.1%; short

    interest 16% of float, according to Markit

  * Raymond James’s Pavel Molchanov: Questions whether TCK would

    be most logical buyer fundamentally given diversified focus;

    Daily Mail has “decidedly mixed, tabloid-lite reputation,”

    all such speculation needs to be “taken with a grain of

    salt”

    * Rates IOC outperform, PT $100

  * Bernstein’s Ignace Proot: “Generally skeptical” on

    speculation, would be surprised if TCK changes perspective

    from bringing mining expertise to oil sands projects vs

    IOC’s focus on pure drilling; says IOC’s area of activity is

    remote, in more risky areas, “which TCK tries to avoid”

    * Rates TCK market perform

  * Clarkson Capital’s Jeremy Sussman: TCK is acquisitive given

    large cash balance; notes co. has been linked to NA/SA

    copper, iron ore assets in the past, “which fits more

    naturally than IOC”

    * Rates TCK market perform

  * NOTE: TCK presents at BMO Global Metals & Mining Conf. Feb.

Agree with this. It really makes little sense. Not saying 100% it can't be, but if there was anything credible to it, we would be up way more than a couple of bucks today. I would guess phones have been off the hook and per this story it appears no one is coming up with anything.

Micah welcomes Pavilion Energy to invest in PNG

MINISTER for Public Enterprises and State Investments Minister Ben Micah has welcomed into Papua New Guinea Singapore’s multi billion kina State subsidiary company Pavilion Energy.

Pavilion Energy is a subsidiary of TEMASEK, the Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Republic of Singapore and recently purchased a 20 per cent interest in the Tanzania Gas Blocks for US$1.288 billion.

The company is considering to invest huge sums into the PNG gas projects.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Public Enterprises and State Investments, Mr Micah met with the company’s Group chief executive officer Seah Moon Ming and other executives.

He had during the occasion formally welcomed Pavilion Energy to invest in the country especially in the Oil and gas sector.

Mr Micah said there is a lot of room for investors like Pavilion Energy and had invited the company to invest in the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream of the gas development.

Further to also work together with the PNG State company, the National Petroleum and Gas Company , NPCP.

He said the Government now wants to be actively involved in participation in the development of resources and want to own part of the business and is seeking to work in partnership with such companies as Pavilion Energy
Mr Micah said the company is a classic example of what PNG can achieve if it properly manages its funds coming in from its gas resources and proper management of State owned Enterprises.
