PETROLEUM and Energy department secretary Rendle Rimua says stakeholder meetings are the way to go for the Papua LNG project in Gulf.
He said this during Sunday’s meeting in Port Moresby, in which technical presentations were made to the Government by a team from the Gulf provincial government.
“I must acknowledge that this is probably the best approach that the Prime Minister and Minister (for Petroleum and Energy Nixon Duban) have taken for people to start discussing upfront before the proper development forum starts.
“This project has been on the table for a very long time.”
Rimua acknowledged the presentation by the technical team hired by the Gulf provincial government.
“We’ve got a long way to go, we’ve got to work together collectively, share ideas rather than disputing here and there, and we can get this thing done quickly,” he said.
Rimua urged the Gulf people to put together their proposals and bring them to Government.
Meanwhile, Mineral Resources Development Company managing director Augustine Mano has commended Gulf leaders for coming together and rallying behind the multi-billion kina project.
Governor Havila Kavo, Kerema MP Richard Mendani and Kikori MP Mark Maipakai were seen sitting together.
