Nape hit with bribery charge

SPEAKER Jeffery Nape has reportedly been charged with trying to bribe a candidate in the national elections.
According to ABC, Nape was charged with undue influence and bribery in his home province of Simbu.
Provincial police commander Augustine Wampe reportedly said Nape was arrested on Saturday when passing through a police check point in his electorate.
A court appearance is expected after the election, while Nape has told local media the claims were made up by rival candidates.
Nape is already subject to various ongoing contempt of court proceedings courtesy of the Supreme Court which date back to events of the political crisis in PNG last year.
