O'Neill: NEC Approval/Green Light Project

[quote='TxPm' pid='12632' dateline='1353004386'] Has anyone else noticed how there is no press coverage of O'Neil giving approval? Not on any of my financial monitors, not on flyonthewall, yet when there was a rumor of the 50/50 split that was EVERYWHERE. I hate to say that Wallstreet and the MM's manipulate the press bc I've worked in the industry my whole life but this is quite blatant. Whoever is shorting this thing is VERY well connected. [/quote

It has long been my personal view, and I think, the view of many others, that IOC's stock is being grossly manipulated.  This is because IOC is a small company with a gigantic resource which the world desperately needs.  In broad terms, this explains pretty much all of what is going on regarding IOC.  It is a war of immense proportions to determine who gets the prize.  As an IOC shareholder, I am interested in IOC keeping/developing its discoveries.  If IOC looses this war, for whatever reason, I will still make a double or triple....but I will be disappointed.

If IOC's stock is being grossly manipulated why is there no game plan to counter this.

That is a relevant topic that should be driven up to management.

Of course most companies don't announce everything or counter false stories but they are established and have cash flow and earnings.

So we (the company) remain mute for months as false stories drag the market cap down over 1 billion dollars, let's spend 10 million and go after them.

When we hit the top or the reservior there should be a press release, one for every DST, press release for NEC approval.  Has management got the SEC involved. Have Megan hound them every week. Let's go fight win. Other companies and CEO's have stopped this nonsense.

We will just lay down and let them beat us like a dog.

PS. I have expressed this to management, no response

Palm, I'd love to see news tomorrow but I'm guessing sometime next week or the week after. All I have to say is WHEN the official announcement does come if the WSJ doesn't cover it along with every other major media outlet that has spread the negative press everytime there is a rumor I will be quite angry

Eller, I got the feeling from Collin today that he felt the same way. The tone in his voice and the nature of his response in reference to his quote in PNG Industry sounded to me like yes we know there is a lot of BS going on and we know there are a lot of unsubstantiated rumors going on but if it's not from managemt it's not official. With that being said I do hope we get a more active management soon. I wonder how much of the silence is due to not wanting to risk violating the CA or the PNG govt's trust

Interoil's market cap is not relevant to the management at this point except for ego and bragging rights. With pending sell downs, IOC should not need to sell a preferred or go to the equity markets. A buyout offer will bring the stock right up to fair market value, regardless of where it is today. I don't want them wasting time on people who make up stories, or twist the truth to their own good. As frustrating as it can be for management (and the shareholders), the best thing they can do is focus on moving the project forward and ignore all the voices around them. This is a complex project in a very complex political environment. I will never forget the advice I got when I was managing my first capital project in the oilfield. "They will never remember years after that you were late in delivering, or if you overran your budget. But, no one will let you forget if you screw it up and it doesn't work."

I am in this for the long haul. I want Phil, etal to lay a great foundation for growth to come. I can remember when IOC was in the 70's (cents that is) after Enron went bust. He stayed focused and got the refinery built. Sleep easy longs!
