>> Might be a good stage to tout their LNG operator capabilities and demonstrate how adding additional operatorships (anyone know an Asian-area LNG plant seeking an experienced operator?!?) can positively enhance their bottom line.

Petronas to Host 25th World Gas Conference

Global gas and energy leaders from around the world will gather to attend the prestigious 25th World Gas Conference (WGC2012) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 4-8 June 2012. Hosted by PETRONAS and organised by the International Gas Union (IGU), the conference and exhibition will seek to address the seismic shifts and developments in the energy sector, with a prime focus on the global gas industry.

Themed “Gas: Sustaining Future Global Growth”, WGC2012 will showcase major achievements and milestones accomplished by the global gas industry. It will also draw on critical inputs from an array of global gas professionals to chart new strategies for the natural gas industry.

“Natural Gas has a key role in achieving a low carbon economy. The credentials of natural gas are indisputable. Supply security is no longer an issue with the abundance of both conventional and unconventional gas and globalisation of the LNG trade. Yet, natural gas faces challenges and obstacles in positioning itself as a key energy source, particularly in the policy arena. As the spokesperson for the gas industry, IGU has initiated efforts towards advocating for natural gas, so that it will regain its appropriate policy voice, consistent with its merits and potential,” said Datuk (Dr) Abdul Rahim Hashim, President, IGU.

The WGC2012 technical programme has been structured along critical themes for each day. Beginning with “Foundation for Growth,” the conference progresses with “Securing Gas Supply,” then “Enhancing Gas Demand,” building up to “A Sustainable Future,” on the final day.

Strategic panels will represent topics of current significance to the gas industry including three special projects: “Building Strategic Human Capital”, “Nurturing Future Generations” and “Geopolitics and Natural Gas.” Besides these three special study projects, key topics such as unconventional gas, gas advocacy, LNG, natural gas for transport, innovation and research and renewable energy will also play a pivotal role in the WGC2012 conference programme.

WGC2012 keynote speakers will comprise the top CEOs and captains of industry associations, International Oil Companies and National Oil Companies. These highly respected individuals from around the world represent a cross-section of the industry from upstream, midstream and downstream.

The latest reconfiguration of exhibition space, up to 10,800 sqm due to overwhelming demand, will bring together major players and suppliers to the gas industry where their latest products, services and area of expertise will be showcased directly to the most influential gathering of international gas professionals.

WGC2012 is sponsored and supported by the likes of Royal Dutch Shell, Qatargas, TOTAL, ExxonMobil, RasGas, GDF Suez, KOGAS and BP, and is set to feature over 5,000 industry professionals, 500 international speakers, 250 local and international media, more than 200 exhibitors and 10,000 trade visitors.

>> Better look over our shoulders though, Qatar sniffing around the SE Asian 'hood and already horned in on their first deal... with Petronas no less, though only for 1.5 MTPA. Sheesh, that's almost a E/A+B/T rounding error!

Qatargas to Supply LNG to Malaysia

Qatargas has signed a heads of agreement to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Petronas subsidiary Petronas LNG Ltd.

Under the terms of the agreement, Qatargas will deliver one and half million tonnes per annum of LNG to Malaysia for a period of at least 20 years, beginning in 2013.

Qatargas will supply the agreed volumes to Petronas from the Qatargas 2 joint venture, onboard its Q-Flex fleet of vessels to Malaysia's first regasification terminal.

Currently, the terminal is being constructed on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia and is expected to become operational by mid 2012.

"It is the first time Qatargas has signed a HOA for supplying LNG to the South East Asian market. We are very pleased with this achievement as it represents the first long-term agreement for supplying LNG to one of the world's fastest growing LNG markets," Qatargas CEO Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani said. "We look forward to a strong and long-term relationship with Petronas, one of the world's premier energy companies. This milestone further demonstrates our commitment to supplying all corners of the globe with reliable LNG supplies."

Maui, what we are seeing with some of these moves is Asian nations that have been dealing with Iran feeling the need to find alternate sources of O&G. Japan has been to Saudi Arabia, India also. There is a real concern from Asia (rightfully so) that things could get nasty with Iran and the West. China has made it clear to the US that any embargo or move against Iran's nuke facilities cannot be at the expense of Asia's economies. The ME has become a huge market for Chinese goods, as well as other Asian country goods. The energy issue is huge and China, Japan, India, SK and Indonesia need stable sources of energy. It will be interesting to see whether the US gets accused of trying to make a market for its excess NG to make energy a driver of the stalled economy.

This all plays right into IOC's hand, as well as Australia. People that say IOC has not received any acceptable bids are trying to deceive, lying and/or poorly informed. It will be fun watching shorts scramble when the truth becomes evident. I hear Eric actually stated that he heard that the chances of IOC receiving an "acceptable" bid is only 5-10%. I hope he invests assuming that.

When IOC was under $10, Eric stated IOC was going broke. I bought June $25 strike calls.Worked out well.Eric has an agenda to bash, twist, and basically lie. Take advantage of his nonsense while you can.Odds of Petronas in the IOC deal makeup are very high.
