Yes Tom, that would be wonderful, but whether he can muster that kind of magnanimity remains to be seen. It's pretty difficult perhaps to be PM, just getting some stuff moving, only for it to end in what I'm sure he feels is a highly unjust way. On the other hand, whatever one thinks of climate guy Al Gore, that's what he did in 2000, although the 'unconventional truth' could very well be that he really didn't have a choice while O'Neill might very well believe he still has.

Welcome Sam! Good to have you onboard. Easier to have civil dialogue here.
Obviously O'Neill is going to give it the old college try and see what comes. He won't go easily; he laid too much groundwork leading up to the SC decision. He has been coached very well. I just hope that should this latest move to replace the GG backfire, he will step aside as crooze says. His best chance here is to save face. Parliament will make Somare a lame/dead duck (hate to use that term!) IF Parliament stays along the current lines. O'Neill would be able to garner support for the election. A question would be if he is ousted, what will he have as far as position in the gov? Anything, nothing? He may just turn into a full-time campaigner drumming up election support.
I hope they get this resolved in the next few days, but no predicting at this point.

We knew that it was heads we win, tails we win. Never thought the coin would land on its edge and stay there. I expect a gust of wind to blow it over one way or the other fairly soon, but I am certainly no expert on PNG politics. Tree, when you get your wives out of the hut to go Christmas shopping in the city, would you pick me up a couple of "O'Neill for PM" bumper stickers? This latest episode complete with the earthquake has convinced me more than ever that somewhere around 2018 to 2020 "Interoil", the movie, will win some category at the Academy Awards.

Tom an excellent suggestion but O'neill will not be able to do that , Somare's NA party is by far the biggest in PNG , O'Neill has struck a sensitive chord with his anti-corruption theme hurting The NA bad, but he needs to finish this or never have a chance getting elected, IMO .
