Platts Mar LNG JKM at record high $19.139/MMBtu on S American demand
Platts March LNG Japan Korea Marker averaged $19.139 MMBtu over January 16-February 15, a record high, on strong competition from South America which left Asian buyers with limited offers as cold weather lingered.
The averaged March JKM saw a 10.3% month-on-month increase from February's $17.348/MMBtu, and was also up 29.5% from last year, when the March JKM averaged $14.775/MMBtu.
The Platts JKM first edged past the previous record high on January 18, settling at $18.575/MMBtu for March deliveries, up from May 23, 2012's $18.55/MMBtu for July JKM.
