I'm guessing we Never get confirmation of any of these rumors except for in pps appreciation....anybody think differently?

On a different topic does anybody think we will get a statement from IOC confirming that the BOD met in march to select a partner like they expected?

funk Well played longs, well played . Throughout all the short lies and their 100 million failed gamble (shell like Geffart got hosed on the river card) longs, stutes and HF's have added and totally shrunk the float. The exit for the shorts is certainly tighter than ole Minkys hole ( big bob expanded Minkys horizons amoung other things). This week the fireworks start a big Hedge confided in me. I'm not at liberty to say more. funkenstein says from yahoo

its most likely going to begin this week. There si no reason IOC shouldnt hit $115 within a month. Shell shorted 4 million. They will unwind that soon. I expect short interest to stay at 8 million, but 6 million covering with no float will do amazing things to the PPS

Why on earth would Shell be shorting IOC? Not their business, is it? I could see them buying shares, but if I were a RDS shareholder I'd sure as hell be wondering how a move like this promotes business development anywhere on the globe. Any ideas? Maybe the want to embarass GS or Wells Fargo?

Yes, I can't see that either Art. At the most, some entity could do it on their behalf or in cooperation, but even that I find rather improbable.

As you say Admin, it's hard to believe that Shell would even be remotely involved in Shorting the stock of an energy exploration company in the hopes of driving the share price down in advance of a takeover.

However, putting the puzzle pieces together, it might be that folks connected to Petromin and the RDS back door endeavors might be Short 4-5 million shares. Is it possible that Joshua Kalinoe himself is Short together with some known Australians?? anything is possible.

I have always felt that when the Shorts start covering, the PPS will increase by $15 per million shares for the first 3 million covered. Then it will escalate since the remaining shareholders like me will be too greedy to sell until we see a VW-type squeeze to over $400.

Shell cannot be involved in shorting this stock, but others sure can as mentioned by Stavros. I am a bit more optimistic on the pps increase regarding covering. I agree with your assessment if no deal is announced, but a deal will be a major catalyst that will re-value the company nav and we can achieve that value and surpass thanks to our friendly neighborhood shorts. Lets hope Phil get er done.

We don't have to depend just on Phil to "get er done". We have other insiders with big say and influence and three world class investment bankers working to "get er done". I understand the BOD has given the IBs the instructions they need to do just that, but don't look for a separate PR on that, not being the kind of matter requiring disclosure beyond that already done. Hopefully, a deal announcement will hit the shorts like a ton of bricks, or maybe four million tons of gas, before long!
