["This is the biggest whine that's ever showed up on the board, and condescending and insulting to boot. So now we have private "SHUS" because the original SHU is "barely" worth saving. God Bless free speach. Not only because you were allowed to share your truly feelings(disgust) but also your disdain of others to express their opions. Censorship, or the attempt thereof, is a hallmark of great regimes. If I'm not allowed to post again that will say it all."]

While I might not have put it in the same words, I don't see how reminding people of the rules amounts to censorship, nor the biggest whine that ever showed up here.

In essence, Tree is right and the character of SHU has changed from a factual focus on news, data and dispassionate analysis to emotional self-reinforcing feedback loops of posts tearing at one another (which provoke reactions, and reactions to these, hence the feedback loop).

I'm responsible for that, so this is also a mea culpa.

I suggest we all cool of a bit.

Wow.  So much to say.  Where do I even begin.  So many valid points from all along the spectrum these last few days re Hession's management approach, our pps past present and future, and our MB - who we were, who we are, and who we want to be.

I realized a while ago that SHU-ins expressing their complaints and fears (careful, no whining, remember?) and then having those objectively and intelligently responded to with facts and other connecting dots is helpful to all who read this board, members and otherwise.  Those complaints and fears are clearly out there; best for all concerned to respectfully (please) address them.

After all, isn't the way we treat each other more important than any stock we own?  I dare say, sometimes it's even more important than being right.

If I may be so bold, I encourage each one to take another look at the rules of the board.  Only this time, instead of identifying how other people might be blowing it (go ahead, admit it; that's what we do) this time do the harder work and thoughtfully consider how you (yes you!) might need to rein it in a bit.  Let's take the time to make sure each one of our posts lines up with, and falls well within the boundaries of, the wise rules of this board.  It's worth our effort.  Much to gain.  Much to lose.  I'll say it again, in the short run and the long run, how we treat each other - the friends and acquaintances that we've made here - is far more important and of greater value than any particular stock we own.

And in other news…for the record, it took 4 months of running through admin's gauntlet before he opened the gate for me to post.
