The brother of Papua New Guinea’s opposition leader has surrendered to police following a shooting in West Sepik province that reportedly left a man dead.
Cain Namah, the brother of Belden Namah, surrendered to police in Vanimo after a man reportedly died from a gunshot wound to his thigh on Monday in the Bewani township following a dispute over land.
PNG’s National Broadcasting Commission reports Mr Namah was also wounded while unloading his gun at the Vanimo police station and is being flown to Port Moresby for medical treatment.
Comment is being sought from the opposition leader who is understood to have been in Singapore since the end of the national election last month.
