My WAG, based on all I've seen on IOC's other monster wells, is that they had difficulty getting side wall cores and had to ream the hole repeatedly to get 'er done. When the formation rock is "soft" with high permeability/ porosity, the cores tend to disintegrate easily. That's the price you pay when you have a great resource! Is this semi-layman's explanation plausible? I hope they're done and can announce the results soon ... perhaps Friday morning?

Stavros-- Sure did like your sentence-" That's the price you pay when you have a great resource!". I will keep that statement in my head for the super-bowl weekend . Our "super-boul day" will be the day(near) that we can list that "great resource" as.....drum roll please..... great RESERVES !!!    ..What is that sound I hear??? Could it be silver dollars falling into the tray (bank)?? Tons and tons of (real) silver $$$s !

Exxon will have a 3 hour web cast on March 6th. I wonder if IOC will deserve a mention by then?

One sense... perhaps.

Exxon would need to win the IOC bid. Today they have not won. They certainly have a need. SOON
