I'm beginning to suspect more and more we are experiencing a "London whale" like scenario where one or two main traders are forcing a dislocation in the price of the security (in this case IOC stock) by simply taking larger and larger positions. Just like we saw in the case of the Whale when the trade begins to normalize massive losses will be realized causing the trade to unravel and swing the opposite direction quite quickly

The shorts and market manipulators have cost me a lot of money over time, and I would love to see the shoe on the other foot, and ablaze, as in "hot foot." It would not only be justice, but a very lucrative proposition for longs. And if the ones most hurt were Tilson acolytes, so much the better. An eye for an eye, hell yes.

From what I am hearing, the shorts are only adding to their position to keep the baseline as low as possible prior to deal news. Despite the rumors of short confidence, I have to think that they are praying for a 'sell the news' event on the deal or a really bad deal in general.
The waiting is almost over. C'mon Phil, let's bring the "house of pain" to the shorts for a change.

Well, while there might be some sellers on the news, there will be new buyers enticed by the removal of most risks, the clock being set towards monetization and ticking down, and InterOil enabled to broaden exploration efforts. The removed uncertainty and time to monetization clarity should be enough to get more coverage and quite a few more institutional investors with a little bit more patient capital.
The deal really has to be terrible for there to be any downside as any deal will remove a lot of uncertainty that is at present in the price. I can't see that happening, considering the quantity and quality of the resource, it's location, etc.

Then there are strong rumblings that the resource update which GLJ is working on will include Tri. We might see 12Ts+ reported. Tri will be limited for a while until more wells are drilled to prove it up, but that is scheduled to happen yet this year.

In the Spring the activity burst open. Imagine Tri as a dormant hive right now. When PRE & IOC start drilling in earnest, good things will happen . Ts of ng will be added. I guess that is part of my hope that we do a SD instead of a Sout . Hope some of the bigs will take a long-term view. |
