My friends,
While patience is wearing thin and frustration mounts - I wanted to share this story as perhaps it will put the IOC selldown into perspective. I am invested in 2 companies, IOC and GKP. They are mirror images of each other and it actually helps me with my investments as I see almost identical trends among the shareholder base, pps manipulation and seemingly lack of information. In any event, as with IOC, a community has formed among the GKP shareholders and one in particular has been dealt a tough hand.
Reading his post helped me put into perspective how important the timing of the IOC selldown actually is. It also reminded me of Binc and made me wonder who helps out Binc's kids to keep them up to date and informed on the IOC saga? In any event, below is DreamBuilder's post and I hope that all of you are able to spend some time with your loved ones tonight to reflect upon what is really important in life.
Hello everyone,
I haven't posted for nearly a month as I was rather suddenly admitted to Oldham Hospital in the middle of April - a couple of weeks after my last antibody treatment. In simple terms my lungs have given up the fight & I went into respiratory distress & ended up on the High Dependancy Unit fighting to survive for several days - given I'm writing this, happily you know the outcome!
After a few more days (which included my 40th birthday), I was moved back to the ward (where I am now) in order to stabilise further & today during a meeting with my consultant we talked about going home potentially as early as next Monday.
The sad result of this respiratory event & period in hospital is that my lungs are not capable of getting me through a stem cell transplant & as a result my cancer is now terminal. The hardest part of the last few weeks was telling my boys - they are trying to be brave but their pain is pretty clear & frankly gut wrenching as other than hug & try to reassure them, I can't take it away.
As I have no idea how long I have left (1 Week or 2 Years), I have some tough financial decisions to take - more than 80% of my portfolio is GKP at an average of 250. I can't bring myself to sell at this point having been through all the highs to this low but equally I don't want to leave my wife with a basket case of a share in which we invested most of our savings & after I'm gone she is left with nothing. Or should we continue to blindly hold (as we have done so far), clinging onto to fundamentals seeing us through & that one day I'll double/treble/quadruple my money & provide my loved ones the nest egg for life without me? Any/all sensible responses appreciated.
In the meantime, a holiday to Bermuda would be nice..........
Good health to all.
DB
