In the greater scheme of things, on all counts, with an Exxon deal in the works:
- Reduced uncertainty because of deal
- Monetization of assets
- Increase in resource base as a result of appraisal and exploration
have we moved forward significantly, so these price swings, which are an unfortunate characteristic of IOC trading largely due to the large short account, will not mean a whole lot, the long term trend is up and intact. Short-term swings is the terrain of traders and option players, very amusing and can be very profitable, but it's a different ball game and has little to do with the bigger picture..
As long as the longer-term picture is intact, the most stupid thing you can do is sell during these swings, or place yourself in a position in which you're forced to sell.
Do any of our big shareholders do this? I don't think so..
