What if OSH bought out the minority?
#21

Syd- Interoil Senior Mgt on the roadshow mentioned the Exxon word and stated specifically Triceratops and 2.5 T's as the

desired quantity of gas. Same comments about Exxon mentioned in Boston / NYC and in break out sessions . Things can and

do change of course . Exxon may want to use their T on the pipe or just realizes that more OSH Highlands gas with all those

mountain ranges to navigate is not anywhere near as cheap to develop as IOC gas.

I think you are not in the US but you can email Meg who can set you up with a Phone chat with IOC Mgt.

My comment on sources was in response to Ebster who is curious about IOC initiating action against the market manipulators

Regarding XOM ... if anyone keeps their cards close to the vest it's the Humble Boys from Texas ... Whahoo!!!

Thanks for that jft310.

Mind you this is just speculation on my part but it goes like this:
PPL 338 is the area where Triceratops potentially extends into, and OSH is farming into it.
From memory I read somewhere that Total is also joining or about to join OSH in this farm in. (sorry I cant remember where I saw this so take it with a grain of salt)
But is the above is true, then surely OSH and Total would rather use Triceratops gas for their own LNG plant than direct it to the Exxon one.
I also note that possible future gas for PNGLNG may be planned from other sources by these comments in various very recent OSH documents.

Quote:
During the quarter, the PRL 3 joint venture continued to advance technical, environmental and
social baseline field studies on the P’nyang gas field in PRL 3 (Oil Search – 38.51%), focused
on the potential development of P’nyang as a resource for PNG LNG Project expansion. The
final line of the 2D seismic programme over P’nyang was completed and a full re-evaluation of
all the seismic data commenced. Preparations for the submission of a development licence
application for the field will continue through 2014 based on studies completed in 2013.

A seismic programme over the Juha field in PDL 9 (Oil Search – 24.42%) recommenced during
the quarter. This programme will continue into the second quarter of 2014, with data also
planned to be acquired in PPL 260, to the north east.

PNG LNG expansion (Train 3) through development of P’nyang and/or Hides
upside and/or other Highland’s resources.

EndQuote.

Naturally I could well be way off base with my hunch, but it may be worth thinking about.

The waters have become so murky lately about what is happening in that area that I just don't have much confidence about any particular possible outcome that any of us have put forward at the moment. But it sure is interesting Smile

We are talking about the acquisition of an indirect interest. If necessary, IOC can sell the unburdened part of its property to Total. This would give IOC more time to close a deal. If the IPI investors play hard ball, IOC can suggest arbitration. The contract is full of contradictions.

http://www.bby.com.au/bby-insight/kina-p...in-ppl-338

"Oil Search announced that one of its farmin partners for its 5 Gulf of Papua Licences is French company TOTAL SA. OSH and TOTAL will hold equal interests in each of the five licences and will work in partnership to explore and appraise the area. The completion of this transaction will mark the first entry of Total Exploration & Production into PNG.  What this means is TOTAL will join Kina Petroleum in PPL 338 as a Joint Venture partner for future exploration and appraisal activities.

There it is ...... most of written material about PPL338 only talks as if OSH is the only farmin partner to PPL 338, but Total actually has the same farmin equity as OSH in this licence.

This is why I believe Triceratops has a higher possibility of being a Total,OSH,Kina,IOC based development rather than going to PNG LNG.

This SPA was designed and agreed to by IOC and Total for IOC to reach its 30% net interest by buying out the minority interests, and, while I am not saying it is impossible to change that, I believe that is the way it will proceed, and that any interest acquired by OSH in PRL 15 will be through its partner Total.

I agree OSH and/or Total could ultimately gain interests in PRL 39, Triceratops. Of course, I believe PRL 39 is already as large as allowable, and therefore apparently could not have PPL 338 area consolidated into it; and we don't yet know whether Triceratops even extends into PPL 338. It seems to me PRL 39 and/or Wahoo could ultimately be gas sources for expansion of PNG LNG and/or an IOC-Total LNG facility. The drill bits will have a big influence on all that.
