If Institutions get tired of the shorts Shenanigans
#1

Think of the short squeeze possibility if the large institutional holders get tired of these false intraday moves and decide to stop lending out their shares.  I don't know where the tipping point is but if I was an institution I would take back my shares so this intra day pushing would be stopped by shorts.  Fake twitter account spreading false rumors has hopefully moved the share price to a level that a new institution bought in or one of the other large holders accumulated more shares.

I agree, It's ridiculous that they don't stop lending shares at this point? Why wouldn't they? Just to earn some pennies on lending what's the point of letting short sellers toy with your investment.

That's how institutions make money - they go long on a stock, lend them out at really good rates (especially when there is large short demand), and get paid for riding it the stock up. Sounds like a good deal to me.

The short rate is only about 1.5% (annualised).
