Here is an idea, about creating a weekly poll (no recording of the individual members who post) for the benefit of all of the members, that represents a gauge, if you will, of significant anticipated upward or downward moves in the stock. So, as an example, if you hear from your broker that he is expecting the company to announce "xyz" within the next month, that would move the needle on the gauge. Or as another example, if you successfully are able to read charts and would like to share your insight, then you would make a post to the poll. Or further still, you hear rumors that some hedge company is getting ready to take a short position or a long position, you post/vote on that. No wild ass guesses, only substantive voting, when appropriate without any comments or sources.
Example:
1) Likely significant upside in the next week
2) Likely significant upside in the next month
3) Likely significant upside in the next quarter
4) Likely significant upside in the next year
5) Likely significant downside in the next week
6) Likely significant downside in the next month
7) Likely significant downside in the next quarter
I didn't post the poll because I don't know if it is legal to do something like this, so I was wanting to get information from others to determine if they think this is legally ok to do without it being construed as or promoting insider trading? Or even if they think this is a good idea at all for a poll? Sure would be nice to compare the cumulative results of this kind of poll, from well informed members, with actual moves in the PPS to determine the quality of information available from members of this board.
Expanding on this idea even further, results could readily be displayed in the header section of the ioc board as a gauge, so that the gauge can be viewed at a moments notice without having to look for the threaded poll.
