Petro -

If you want to drill down into economic data visit "FRED", a database access tool provided by the Federal Reserve in St. Louis. You can start at http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/USPHCI. There you can come up with lots and lots of economic details, complete with graphing tools and Excel downloads. Somewhere around 60,000 data sets available.

Cheers.

Palm - Was that response directed to me?  If so, what is your point?  Because money replaced barter and there is lots of economic data available using money as a measure it can no longer be trusted as a measure of value?  Sounds like the mentality of a budding survivalist which I certainly doubt to be your case...or is that stash of betel nuts in your cellar telling us something?

Art, I thought you said you were going to leave these political threads on SHU.
Just trying to help you make up your mind.

Best,

No Art, but look at what you said and as Value would say; connect the dots of effective tax rates and govt spending.
