year end cc
#21

I know that everyone is filled with anticipation of news of the selldown, however if memory serves, IOC has never announced news on a CC.  So I wouldn't expect to hear too many details about the selldown during the call.  The board still needs to meet to make a selection, so unless they have met early without anyone knowing, I am still thinking we don't hear anything until late next week or early the week of Mar 11th.

With that all being said, it would sure be nice to hear about the names of the final bidders.

Without news on the 28th, the shorts will have a field day.  I don't believe the company is that naive, certainly hope not.  I am expecting maybe the reserve report , financials, and some forward looking news on the bid situation.   I believe this has all been timed to crreat support for the stockprice during the final partner selection.  imo

Last year we heard about the GLJ report mid Feb, this year its due and the 28th looks like the day.Should be a nice bump up. Like others I think we get the number of bidders by type that submitted bids, maybe the names but that would be a surprise and maybe some comment about the level of the bids but that also would surprise me. More likely they clear up the requirement for the earnings and we get a calender for bid evaluation and selection. WA speaks on March 6th at RJ and I expect he will add some color to the bidding news line. The most important thing its happening and will have an end. Some say the selection of the final bidder for the buyin will propel the losers to make a run at the entire company. We can call that a nonconforming bid. This week looks good for IOC.

HemiHefi,

I agree that in the past we seldom/never get real news on earnings CC day. But we have had a couple of times where important news has come the day after; most recently Q3 2012 earnings CC was on Nov 15th 2012 and on the 16th they announced that the PNG Government had approved the Gulf LNG project.  This time could be quite similar in that the company announced back in January that Feb 28th is the deadline for SD bids.  So they very well could do the earnings CC Thursday and state that more info is forthcoming on the bids and bid process, then on Friday state absolute facts as to how many bids had been received by EOD Thursday, the types, the number of bids, etc and the timing for review and the BOD meeting date at which the decision would be made.  The zebra is getting nervous about what and who might be sneaking up.

I tend to agree with the school of thought that little will be revealed during the cc about the partnering process. 8:30am est is still February 28th in PNG and I am presuming that any bidders would have until midnight PNG time to submit their final bids. Also, if bids changed at the last minute, the IBers will still need time to review and make a recommendation to the BOD's. While I welcome good news, I will have no expectations other than the normal updates on earnings, drilling, etc and a probable update on EOY 2012 resource estimate (+1-2 Trillion). We'll hear how they will be meeting as previously disclosed and plan to make a decision in the next couple of weeks. I highly doubt any names of bidders will be revealed.

Of course, I am long so I have little expectation about this call but great anticipation of mid March. Now, if I was short, I might be a great deal more concerned.....3 trading days will go fast.

Itinvest, maybe you should check again. I show 16 hrs time difference, that would put 8:30 am 27th in NY equal to 12:30 28th in PNG. Curious.....

I think all the questions at the end will be about the bids. That should be obvious I would think. What they say is not so obvious as answers to those questions.

Trans, I just looked it up again to double check and it's currently 2:18pm est and 5:18am PNG time. 15 hour difference?! So the call would start at 11:30pm PNG time? However, I guess it would end on March 1st in PNG. Maybe they will open the bids on the call Smile)
