After the Zebra incident (and Shell's behavior in Nigeria) I don't think the PNG government would want Shell. There would be a concern, valid or not, that Shell would subvert or corrupt government policies and process. With the Japanese one can be sure of honorable behavior.

Great point.  Would PNG  pre--approve RDS?  Why would IOC allow a late CA?  Is this a short rumor?  Delay is the last hope for the shorts.  A deal announcement ends all doubt.  A good deal sets the PPS floor at $150 with the best deals yet to come, if they're allowed to remain independent.  Shell should just go hostile and offer $250 per share and hope to "steal" the company.

Hope it's not true. It will just make things take longer. I'd hate to see us go past 60 days from march 1 after all. Hohoho. Take the time to get it right. Wouldn't it be great to have bod divided over SMs that offer less and JKM that offers more ? That would be like trying to choose between Pamela A's reefs

Purely speculation on my part but......If Shell did enter a CA could that permit them access to more reliable information as a legitimate participant of the process and thereby permit them to more effectively oganize a TO if they fail to have the winning bid? Would ANY bid no matter how non-competitive provide a participant more access to what is being bid and by whom?  I would think that being involved in the process WOULD have to provide more information not less.....being involed would have to provide more insight than those not involved in the process.....or am I off base on that assumption.

Some time ago management was asked how much access Shell has had to information through Petromin. The answer was that because they were brought in in the capacity they were the have seen all or most all of what others will have seen.

But to Dmarques insight, working with the IBs would have given them  some "feel" as to where winning bids needed to be versus the data they had already gathered. Perhaps they are the  Dukes and they let  Mr. Valentine set the price.

In the end, the Dukes got what was coming to them as did Clarence Beaks(Duma).  Picture it, "where's beaks?  Beaks?...."
