Size Matters
#1

XOM's sub sea dry gas pipeline is 34" diameter to feed 6.6 Mtpa PNG/LNG with expansion plans.
IOC's dry gas pipeline from CSP to LNG plants is 36" diameter.

Aren't you supposed to be watching the ball game? Size does matter. His name is McGeary.

He is a beast.  Good feet, hands and vision.  Would make a great tight end - Gronk #2.

Am watching the game, and multi-tasking since my Sparty's only beat M by 40, it's hard for me to get fired up rooting for M, but I am.

Go Blue! Great game and McGary is a workhorse.

Question is how much conditioned gas can be pushed through that subsea? Once PNG LNG has enough gas for 4 trains, how much redundancy is needed; if PNG LNG finds just enough gas, do they need a tie-in should something go wrong with a well or gathering line?

No Doubt, McGary has been playing great of late.  Although he missed a few short shots last night down the stretch, others picked up the slack for a great UM win.  Better hit the late free throws against Louisville  Monday night.

Ability to perform under pressure is important as well as size.

Take for example a 24 inch diameter pipeline operating at 750 psi and 90 feet per second can transport about 1.02 million cubic feet per hour. But that is roughly 1.02 x (750/14.7) = 51.9 million standard cubic feet per hour. Cut the operating pressure in half and you have half the scfh capacity. (rules of thumb for operating pressures and velocities come from http://www.ehow.com/how_8603429_size-pre...lines.html)

Incidently, 51.9 mmscf/h is 9.24 mtpa per my calcs. What is the diameter again of XOM's pipeline?

As was observed, Blue needs to sink its free throws at the end of the game. Also, not take the air out of the ball so damn early.

Good day to you ! Yes,size matters....but I also believe "time" matters. Probably should have changed to "will be 36" diameter " .No, not whinning, just wishing that we could move things along at a better pace. What year can we project for that pipeline to be installed??? GLTY.

Sageo,

What would you do differently to move things along at a better pace?  It's foolish to think you have any clue on the dynamics involved, so yes it is whining.  It is time for all to remember rule #3.  We have nothing to offer those IBs and bidders and IOC as far as what we think they should be doing.  If you have insight or information to share please do.
