Why retire April 30?
#1

Possibility 1: Announcement on Mayday that he doesn't want to be a part of (a sizable part of PRL 237 sold to Total or RDS gets PRL 15).

Possibility 2:  New CEO named on Mayday.

I think #1 is very likely.  Otherwise why retire before deal is done or new CEO is named.  Shorts will be saying "Mayday" tomorrow a.m.

I would love to wakeup tomorrow to the announcement.  I could then wait until mother's day and inform my wife I was right about Interoil.  It's been so long I don't even mention the stock anymore to her.  I remember last May telling her any day now LOL.

Last time I mentioned IOC to my wife she said, "Let me guess, it's happening in two weeks".    So guys, how many more weeks.

Another theory...

Phil gave his word to Mitsui that if they backed InterOil's condensate stripping plant he would never do a deal that would take that away from them. If the board is going a direction that will cut out Mitsui, then Phil may feel honor-bound to "retire" so that he will keep his word to Mitsui.

That's my guess du jour...

There just might be a lot of us out there that have been in that boat for quite some time.  Still not seeing tigers yet though...

Where's that instruction for how to create a poll? That might be fun while we wait. As Bullwinkle famously said to Rocky, "Wanna see me pull a rabbit out of my hat?"

Just how many of us Bullwinkles are there here on SHU?;-)

Last time I spoke with my wife about IOC, which was last night, she said it is ignorant to believe JKM is out of the picture.  She doesn't believe that 40 days ago, O'Neill went to Japan to have Shinzo Abe tell him they were pulling out of the bidding.  Hell it made sense to me!

Keep it on Ice,
Hemi
p.s.  I believe one should consider that IOC doesn't know when the selldown will be completed.  I believe they know when the next round of bids will be due and when they will review them - but how is it possible for them to know if a bidder is going to re-up their bid?  Every penny per Mcf equates approx to one dollar a share - so in my mind IOC should let this run to bidder exhaustion.  Use or flush.

Has there been anything definitive on the re bid or bidding war.  If I missed something I would like to know, I think some of this is in an article and then it becomes an urban legend.  What from the company said we were in a bidding war?

Hey ellerslick,

Yup, there is no official presser from IOC on this.  So I guess that means you should flush it.

Hemi, not trying to question you. I have seen this mentioned from multiple people in the last couple of weeks and it well may be true.  I think it is important and several folks stated this is why the delay, many people have sources that they do not want to reveal. I was hoping to track down the source if possible, thanks.
