Fighting "the Shorts"
#21

'cybersssss' pid='27705' datel Wrote:Sure looks like a win-win to me. There is empirical evidence that this works against naked shorting. Management?

The last time I talked to Wayne (admittedly a very long time ago) he seemed pretty confident that a selldown deal would make the shorts go away. I disagreed with him but he seemed dismissive.  If management REALLY wants to get rid of the shorts, they need a four pronged assault on them via:

1. Sell down properly communicated to shareholders. They need total clarity and Meg/Wayne need to contact any media outlet that distorts the deal news.

2. Stock split

3. Quarterly divi

4. Investor roadshow explaining the sell down details and future roadmap

Anything less than this and the shorts will continue to haunt the company.

Will run it up the flagpole with mgmt and see if we can get any type of response.

IOC has 3 investment bankers that have seen everything in their years err decades of doing this. They have a plan which includes, stock split, possible dividend, listing on the Singapore all discussed on earning calls by Collin Visagio. Further two large longs loan shares and will be asked to call back their loan shares their call of course upon a deal. All of the above is timed upon deal announcement . Thus the confidence WA expressed to TA. The new wrinkle of a mini stock split to find shares would only be a plus if IOC chose to not issue a regular sizable dividend which is not likely soon.

Mucho appreciated Palmato.

Good luck to all of us longs. This has been a hellish week for IOC shareholders.

"Will be asked to call back their shares..."  Am I the only one tht says WHAT THE HELL IS THAT BS.  When part of our problem is fellow stock owners screwing us all I find this to be an issue.  And for IOC to ask them...the should tell them that ZIS what IOC wants and publically let others know who it is so pressure can be placed upon them.  Some of these bigs are not part of the solution they are part of the problem...

If you look at IOC you see the following picture:

Regular funds etc: 42 M
Shorters: -12
Freefloat 20
Total 50

Because of the shorting the freefloat increased by 12 M. A sharebuyback reducing the free float would be the most effective way to fight the shorts. A side effect of the share buyback would be the leverage effect. By reducing the sharecount, the sharevalue increases.

Let us assume a share buyback amounting to 10 M shares which costs at this moment 660 M. Company value after deal 10 B. This would imply an increase in sharevalue from 200 to 250 USD.

Investment Bankers were hired to sell a stake in E/A. I do not understand what and why they give any advise on anything else. This nonsense has gone on for long enough. I, for one, do not want to wait any longer for market manipulators to have their way with an investment that I put my hard earned money into. Not maybe tomorrow "after a deal" with lofty expectations. Time to do something NOW!

Have you?! (owning a stock in a company that has does not count)

Ibankers work for IOC BOD and their main focus is getting paid. That happens when a deal is signed.

You have been touting that the IBers are advising this and that for over a year. Well a year has passed and NOTHING happened. Time for the company and us grassroots shareholders to take action NOW, not soon, or imminently. Hoping that something will happen is not good enough for me.
