The "deal" with Iran is most likely to be of significant material benefit to Iran but only of political benefit to the US and others.

I think we want an IOC deal or deals of significant material benefit to shareholders.

Just sayin'......

Great point Kommon. An equivalent deal that IOC would make would be selling gas at $0.10/mcf and having no equity in any plants, no cash up front and needing to find funding for development on its own. PNG would be saying "Nice job. For your efforts we will take all of your equity ownership and you survive as long as you can."

Deals can ALWAYS be made......if one party is willing to give away the farm.  ;- (

Somehow I fail to understand how a deal allowing Iran to make its own fuel for nuclear power generation while opening its facilities for inspection to assure weapons grade material is not produced, thus reducing the risk of Middle East conflagration, is a giveaway akin to $0.10/mcf.

Why?  Because the deal will involve international inspection in Iranian facilities.  As Ronald Reagan famously said, "trust, but verify".

The people of Iran are not deep, dark evil people.  Without a doubt there are people there who are filled with blind hatred towards the US just as we have people in the US that have exactly the same hatred clouded views towards Iran.  What is important is those kind of people do not drive the public discourse.  It leads to no good end (except I suppose if you sell or invest in military hardware and services).

It is not the people that are not trustworthy. It is their fanatical government regime that will solidify their power if they get nuclear weapons. Most of my Persian friends do not trust the ayatollahs regime and wish for a democratic one.

I would argue that the minority in Iran that as you say are filled with blind hatred toward the usa DO drive public discourse in Iran. This story is not over with Iran. This is eerily similar to North Koreas path to obtaining nuclear weapons.

Go IOC!
