Put yourself In IOC's shoes. If you had a controlling interest in PNG NG would you sell it when your had a strong balance sheet?

Not unless it was Total and you wanted to have them even more commited to FID. <img src=" border="0" class="smilie" src="images/smilies/lightbulb.gif" />

Very astute.  The VALUE is in the tie back for a two train LNG Project.  Toss in Stratigic Exploration Partner and recertificaiont upside, we can call it a day with 50/50 ownership.

I guess PR should expect a tidy sum.

Let's not forget there is also value in the tieback to PNG LNG via the installed tee in the pipeline across the Gulf.  Wouldn't it be ironic if IOC's first gas came from the dinosaurs and not the ruminants?

According to IOC there is no "installed tee", but that is probably not an important determinant anyway.  I think there also may be some problems with mixing Eastern Basin gas with Western, among other issues.

IOC has majority ownership without the interests of PRE and PacLNG, and I do not think the government would try to override that, especially with IOC progressing with exploration, development, and monetization. Furthermore, the government has an agreement to evaluate and develop P'nyang, etc. over the next two years, and 10% ownership of OSH provides the government with influence but no control over OSH.

Good Find.

"The projects, which have yet to be finalised, involve multinational firms such as Total SA, Exxon Mobil, Santos and Oil Search. Total operates the Elk-Antelope fields.

Funding an expansion of PNG LNG and any Elk-Antelope development will require NPCP to contribute billions of dollars in the next three years, so it makes sense for it to raise debt well before it needs the money, two industry executives said.

*NCPC = PNG Gov't interest in Oil & Gas Projects

*Financial Advisor not yet chosen.

*Multiple billions in "plain" US $ debt required for upcoming projects.

Tucker,

Huh.  billions of plain old US $ debt.
