Antelope-4 ST-1 Horizontal Displacement
#1
I have previously discussed a couple of times how far Antelope-4 ST-1 will reach from the original vertical well. I have made a new estimate using the latest available information.

1. Kick off point 862 meters drill depth (+/- 784 meters sub sea)
2. Top of pay in original well -1,911 meters sub sea (1,989 meters drill depth)
3. Distance from kick off point to top of pay in original hole (1,989 - 862),  1,127 meters.,
4. Top of pay in new side track hole -1,875 metes sub sea or +/- 1953 meters.
5. Distance from the kick off point to -1,875 meters sub sea in original hole 1,091 meters.,

With this information and a trial and error calculation we can determine that the horizontal displacement  from the vertical well at -1,875 meters sub sea to the top of the pay at -1,875 in the side track well is about 100 meters or 0.1 km. The average angle of the deviated hole is 5.2 degrees. They started off at the kick off point at +/- 0 degrees so the angle was probably built up slowly to about 10 degrees at the top of the zone. I am a little disappointed that the well is not being kicked a little further from the vertical well. If they maintain the 10 degree angle to the gas/water contact they will be about 150 meters from the original well at that point. If they drill to the planned TD of 2,375 meters maintaining the 10 degree angle the bottom of the hole will be about 174 meters horizontally from the original vertical well (location). If they  continue to build angle while they drill through the pay zone the distance will be a little more but we will not reach the 3/8 km (375 meters) that I had hoped for. The average angle would have had to be 19 degrees to reach that far at the top of the pay zone.

So your best guess is 174 meters of dolomite today , or 570 feet of dolomite . That's still a very large column .

Pet - Good day to you ! Thanks for your "new estimate" . [ Now for my "new story" ...ha,ha ] . Recently,at another one of our large family gatherings (always somebody's birthday or someone's dog had puppies), one of my (many) g-kids asked" GP,how's our Hypotenuse well coming along ?" (....that's what they now call Ant 4). "Well,I said, the Hypotenuse well doesn't have a noose around it's neck, but it has a "prolonged" breathing problem......but it should be okay ih the long run. Then another g-kid said,"GP, since we hit Bobcat and Raptor on their flanks, why don't we drill the Hypotenuse on down and hit Ant S on it's NW flank ....then we would have 3 out of 3" . I said," No way, we would run out of money on the way down".  My bottom line to the  day's celebration was," Guys, you will all make a few bucks (by mid-2016),or you will all be working until you are 85 years old" [ I did see a few glum faces at that remark ! ] Hope you have a good day....in spite of the "dropping pps" of our 'beloved ??? IOC shares .

Assuming we survive, peak stock price should be right before the plant opens . This was the opinion of Phil M and looking at Oil Search price per share results they peaked right before plant openned . Then oil prices crashed .

jft, I am pretty sure he is not talking about a vertical column measurement, and that the vertical column is greater, but that the ST is not reaching out as far horizontally as he anticipated.  Right, Pet?

Not speaking for Pet,but imo,"You got it, Getit" .  Happy daze to all !

I am talking about how far the new wellbore (Antelope-4 ST-1) will be from the old wellbore (Antelope-4).
I am just trying to show how much additional area they will be evaluating or how far they will prove the dolomite extends to the south or southeast (assuming that is the direction they are going because they have not said).
So I am saying "not much". They will prove up an additional 100 -150 meters (horizontal) of the field to the south. This has nothing to do with how many feet of dolomite is present.

A large column of dolomite is exciting especially if it spreads over more than 5 kilometers . Which is exactly what we have at E/A today. The question is how much further does it extend ??Even an additional 150 feet is exciting .
