P’nyang has potential to expand LNG: Botten
OIL Search says there is potential at the P’nyang in Western and existing fields for the expansion of the Papua New Guinea Liquefied Natural Gas project.
Managing director Peter Botten told the recent Credit Suisse Asian investment conference in Hong Kong that it included the high value of production optimisation-bottlenecking and the potential in the third LNG train which was expected to give about four million tonnes per annum (4MTPA).
He said the other potential included the delivery of domestic power.
Botten said the benefits of the expansion included a fiscal regime in place, a relatively straightforward expansion of project finance facility and a reduced capex due to the use of existing infrastructure.
Botten said areas which had resource base for potential expansion included the integration of P’nyang (Petroleum Retention License 3- PRL3) into the PNG LNG project and the Oil Search recertification of the foundation projects field this year.
He said the Government would undertake development forums in 2016 ahead of the Petroleum Development Licence award.
He said predatory works were underway for the P’nyang South 2 well, targeted to spud in the second half of this year.
