Botten has said the government was supportive, but he also said that he expected a government statement to be coming shortly after he was speaking on his cc. Has anything actually surfaced? Botten has positioned OSH as lynch pin in PNG energy development, but does anyone doubt that XOM and TOT will be making all of the decisions? My hope is that the government believes that the "Melanesian way" works better with more players rather than fewer.

What is interesting is the oil minister said many weeks ago that something big was going to happen and he would be announcing shortly. Never occurred but might he have known about this deal in advance. Like way in advance.

If we're going to continue to be invested in PNG, then need to pay much closer attention to that guy.

He mentioned 2 trains for Papua LNG, but the context about announcements was broad and could be interpreted as end of year rather than imminent. He was on conference circuit and apparently was available to the press, so whatever he may have said could be construed to whatever narrative suited him, or those who want to quote him. He is a politician.

So the big news was OSH found funding for its share of PRL and would not embarrass the government of Peter O'Neill further with another drop in share price.
Of course we all should make a guess whether there is an executable agreement between Total and OSH. Now that the potential is high for us to be OSH shareholders maybe it is time to start working that question. The potential also seems pretty high that OSH can now be sold to Woodside at a more attractive price. After all, once you've let the soldiers in through the gates of the city you might just as well let them finish the job.
