What little I can find is IOC was to release a statement later today. Also that Bloomberg had been told by TOT via email TOT would not bid. It could be the Bloomberg statement was based on a misinterpretation of the earlier Total statement. I've seen today press coverage about Search Oil's bid for IOC. Regardless, this appears to be more of the incompetence we've grown to expect from IOC management allowing confusion to become so thick a trading halt was the only responsible move by the market.

It's past midnight in Singapore. Maybe the HQ night watchman fell asleep and hasn't heard the fax machine.

I see no statement yet that TOT has pulled out of the bidding only the new release that IOC and XOM boards have approved the acquisition. I did note that for the first time in normal publication channels IOC's 4 million acres is part of the deal. Trading remains halted. My guess remains Total confusion.
