Short interest in InterOil stock (NYSE- IOC) was lower for the first time in the past six months according to NYSE reported figures.  In the latest reporting period 13,681,910 shares of InterOil shares were short as of the settlement date March 28, 2013.  367,548 shares were covered during the final two weeks of the March reporting period.  The average volume of daily trading in InterOil shares has been cut in half to only 516,500 shares a day making the short interest ratio a whopping 26.49. Over 13 million shares short equate to over 28% of all InterOil shares are currently sold short and over 33% of the available float is short.  The short interest is up 26% in the first quarter even as InterOil stock has performed well as the stock up 37% for the first quarter of 2012.
