While I have to say that I haven't actually read the article but the assumption seems to be that there are no real bids and it's all a big show by management and investment banks. And if that would be true, it would all come out in the end anyway. That is, needless to say, as bizarre as comparing IOC with Bre-X (which he did on one of his previous endeavors), so I'm not losing any sleep over this, to put it mildly.
I have to admit it takes more time than I thought (or hoped) it would, but I'm not a specialist in putting complex international energy deals together so my opinion counts for nothing in this respect. What I do know is that only very few people have anywhere near a complete picture, so I would take anything you hear with a considerable pinch of salt.
