The one thing about Cramer is that he's still (no matter what he says) joined at the hip with the big IBs; especially (as he calls them) "Golden Slacks". He may be aware that the tide is ready to turn and some big money is getting ready to join in pretty soon. With him many times a recommended stock takes a quick pop, then it's beaten down. Then, with a speculative stock like IOC, it all depends on the "story" going forward. So, in reality he might just create a little ST flurry, then it would do what it's going to do anyway.
His record has been analyzed by several people over the last few years, especially his "charitable trust" recommendations. For the most part he mirrors the S&P 500, but is lagging that index the last couple of years. That is if you consider reinvested dividends which is required when using the S&P as a comparison. He's an entertainer who flops all over on his picks and pans, but usually picks time periods where he recommends a stock to show the best returns (who does that sound like?). Problem is he may have recommended that stock 6 times over the last year or two. Must give him some credit. He once in a while does admit he screwed up. Guess that gives him a small bit of credibility in the TV audience world.
