InterOil is mobilising three drilling rigs to its acreage in Papua New Guinea for a series of exploration and appraisal wells, writes Russell Searancke.
The Wahoo prospect in Block PPL 236 is a multi-trillion-cubic-foot gas prospect.
The Raptor target in Block PPL 237 is a similar sized prospect that is located 10 kilometres west of the Canadian player’s large Antelope discovery.
The Bobcat well in PPL 238 lies on trend with the Antelope and Triceratops discoveries.
InterOil also plans to drill an appraisal well on its Triceratops discovery, and between two and four appraisal wells in Block PRL 15, which contains the Elk-Antelope fields.
“No matter which way you cut it, it’s a giant hydrocarbon accumulation,” said InterOil chief executive Michael Hession. “It’s going to take between two and four appraisal wells to understand the size of this thing.”
